It's pretty surreal reading the first pages of this thread from 2007 and seeing what people considered the top TV shows or movies up to that point in time. We're now over 15+ years later where so many more now classic or loved movies and TV shows came out since. It's an interesting time capsule of the early 2000's.

I don't really watch anything anymore so I can't even come up with ten TV shows (I've obviously watched more but nothing has had much of an impact on me lately).

It really is crazy how much good TV came out after the 2000's. It really puts into perspective how bad most TV was in the 80's/90's outside of sitcoms/comedies.

Funny to see where my mind was at back then in 2011. Was really clinging to the childhood nostalgia comforts for a while, not making as much time for dramas & whatnot. Cycled through a lot of the old animated Nick & CN cartoons that I loved, sitcoms, etc. Much of this remains dear to me, & my taste is largely still rooted in the past, but I feel like it'd be fun to do an updated list more in line with where I'm at in the years since. I'm surprised by a lot of the things I omitted when I wrote this, stuff that I go way, way back with.

A number of my favorite films are connected sequels that I could easily burn up multiple slots with, so I'll just put them in as IP but you can assume it's trilogies & stuff.

Movies:

-Super Mario Bros (live-action specifically)

A few difficult-to-cut honorable mentions include the Indiana Jones, Jurassic Park, Back To The Future, & Outrage trilogies, Rumble In The Bronx, Space Jam, What Dreams May Come, Beetlejuice, The NeverEnding Story, Robocop, Blade, The Godfather, Short Circuit, I could go on, & I'm sure I'm forgetting some key titles, too. Overall, I love swashbuckling martial arts, organized crime, & robot/alien/creature FX best of all. People are sometimes surprised to find that doesn't always include horror/comic book/spaceship movies, though. I dig on a lot of obscure Japanese stuff, too.

Cartoons & anime stand on their own, so I'll save those for their own threads.

HUGE honorable mention to the entire genre of tokusatsu; stuff like Super Sentai, Ultraman, Jukkou B-Fighter, there's a few quite near & dear! Used to love The Office, Parks & Rec, guess I still do, but a lot of those kinda programs got milked to death on social media. Then there's a boat-load of other 90's sitcoms that I've watched over & over, my most cherished being Everybody Loves Raymond, Frasier, Roseanne, Family Matters, & The Fresh Prince, behind the aforementioned Full House. I just wanted to have a more diverse list rather than sticking with alphabet network family comedies. Never been super big on reality TV but one I will sometimes go back to is American Pickers, I like the Americana meets eccentric hermit vibes there. Was a huge fan of Law & Order SVU until Stabler left. Mr. Bean ruled, wish there had been more of that. Pluribus & Severance are two shows we really loved in recent years, we liked some aspects of Alien Earth but found it frustrating on a whole, don't really dabble in much else current, film or TV.
