NECA Archie line

NECA knew that people would be pissed but they had a ton of inventory left over.

So they boxed them individually and sent them out. For all we know the individual Stump Turtles are Ross exclusives.

It would not surprise me if NECA did have way too many of these four packs sitting in inventory and had to dump them to Ross, but Ross requires a lower price point so NECA had to repackage them as singles even though that costs them an extra expense on whatever possible tiny margin they may gain. The fact NECA went the Ross clearance route also says to me that this is another sign that NECA has to be out of the turtle business by the end of the year because normally they would let’s something like this sit at full price on Halloween.com or some such affiliate.

Random thought about the Archie line being so Stump Wrestling heavy: IDW didn't even reprint #37! It got lumped in with the Middle East arc and was skipped when they did the TPB series for TMNTA.

Obviously this series was very popular in the 90's and many people still have their original issues, but it's crazy that they pushed the wrestling theme when feasibly a large portion of the fans out there have only been exposed to #7.

Ya think NECA will ever do a Mohammed figure?

Update from Ken Mitchroney's Facebook page about Mutanimal Leatherhead:

Leatherhead has arrived and this marks the end of our Mutanimals series with NECA toys.
The box of this last figure it truly impressive and, as alway, the sculpture is absolutely beautiful and looks just like my drawings.
It came with lots of extra hands, guns, a harpoon and the orb that got Jess Harley into this mess in the first place.
This may be a bitter sweet delivery but, here I am in my office staring in wonder at characters I put on paper in 1991. Wow.

So Mutanimals is "at an end"...but how about Archie Adventures in general, I wonder. So far my prediction that they wouldn't bother with plain turtles has held true...

If Archie is over entirely I *might* consider closing the gap and adding Speedo Ace to the collection. I did not want to subsidize the line buying characters I was not all that interested in but when a line is small enough the completion bug is enticing.

What ever happened to El Mysterio? (That would be another I would avoid unless the line is truly over...)

El Mysterio was supposed to be Q1 of this year according to NYCC last year, but Cryin' Houn' seemed to lag on shelves, so I wouldn't be shocked if that got him further delayed.

I still *really* want a Future Turtle 4-pack for this line, along with Verminator-X and a new Armaggon.

Just seems wild that they made a whole new Turtle body for the wrestlers and mutated April, but didn't make the four turtles. I mean, it's NECA - they'll repaint and rehash the same sculpt a half dozen times if given the chance!

I saw someone on reddit say Kyle spoke at some thing recently. He wouldn't outright comment on the license, but did specifically say they the Archie line wasn't done and they have plenty of releases slated for 2027. Sorry I don't have a real source for this.

Archie is one of the few lines left that they could still milk me for quite a few figures. They need to do Ninjara at a minimum. I'd absolutely go for Chris Allan Turtles, Splinter, April, Null and several others. Don't care how expensive a big ass Cudley might be, I'd have to get that too.
