The director tried have Pleakley be a drag character like in the original, but it didn't work out.

Considering how much money thing made (I have yet to see it by the way, it sounds like a giant insult to the original), I am morbidly curious about what the probable sequel is going to be. There are effectively two different second Lilo and Stitch movies, one is the glorified premiere of the TV show and the other is the one officially titled Lilo and Stitch 2. A direct remake of Lilo and Stitch 2 would at the very least fix the whole "Why don't Jumba just quarantine Stitch until he's cured?" thing because now he isn't in a situation where he can do that but I can't imagine them really fixing all the other problems with that movie without creating new ones. Then there is the glorified TV show premiere, which does introduce a real villain but is arguably an even worse movie and just ends in such a way that there would be way too many sequels promised. Of course I also fear that they would be Frankensteining these two sequels together and somehow using the worst elements of both... Gross...
Of course, that's assuming they won't have their own awful ideas of how to make sequel and just making up their own garbage... Ugh... In that case I suspect that they would (at most) use Hämsterviel from the TV show as the antagonist (as he is the closest thing to a true villain in the franchise) but really take nothing else except maybe Reuben. And you know what's funny? A direct sequel to the live-action remake that mostly ignores the sequels might somehow be both slightly better and way worse at the same time. I really want to be proven wrong here. |

I really wanted to watch this film, but was spoiled by the ending. I really liked the original and its message and seemingly, that was thrown out the window. Just for fun, for movie day I showed my class the original and they enjoyed it. Maybe one day I’ll give the live action version a chance so that I can fairly judge it.

Chris Sanders, the voice of Stitch, and who co-created and co-directed the original animated film will direct the sequel to the live-action film.
