It's a shame that Nick did not let the TMNT franchise rest for a bit after the 2012 series ended. They went *immediately* to Rise of the TMNT and didn't even give the franchise some down time, and that's probably partly the reason the show flopped even with kids. And now Mutant Mayhem/Tales also came way too fast after Rise, and again you can see the waning interest especially with the next movie delayed a year too.

They really should of let the franchise cool down for at least 5 years when the previous cartoon ended, and then try to relaunch it. IDW TMNT would still be going on all this time anyway, and so would all the toys, merch and videogames, so it's not like they wouldn't still be getting licensing money anyway.

I honestly feel we'll never have a "hit" TMNT cartoon again, since they're just keep relaunching them one after the other barely letting the previous kids age out of the franchise.

Yeah I think about this all the time. One of the most depressing aspects of the state of TMNT is that they’re just going to relentlessly push out crap until the wheels fall off, with little regard to quality.

What should really be happening, is Nick should have whatever baby cartoon they want to sell toys with and there should be a PG-13/R film or big budget streaming series going on that’s so good that we don’t care what they’re doing with animation.

The irony there (pay attention cubed, this is how you actually use this word) is when the Viacom era got rolling, all of us oldasses mostly loved and accepted the 2012 show, while the Michael Bay produced movies were mostly maligned.

But yeah, as agonizing as the dead years could be at times, I think cooldown periods are important. I ended up enjoying parts of Rise, but I never gave it a fair chance until 2024 because it felt so disrespectful to the 2012 show to announce and begin production on that when they were still working on season 5.

For me, Owari episode is true ending of 2012 TMNT. I like 2012 Turtles were finally allowed to kill Shredder. I also think 2012 Alopex's storyline is better than IDW Alopex because she focused on her revenge. Although she chose not to kill Tiger Claw, she still cut off his right arm so that he will remember the shame of his failure forever.

In defense of the 20’s, we’re getting:

- Hardcover versions of Andrew’s Image closer (now called Unfinished Business) and The Shredder, both with additional pages from Jim Lawson.

- More issues of TMNT Adventures drawn by Chris Alan.

- The beginning of the Image/Urban Legends NECA line.

- The 2012 NECA line.

- The Battle Nexus comic might be a fun crossover event.

No,it’s the best since the 90’s because optimism has finally set in. The owners of the property are ready to take it seriously and respect the roots.

Mirage reprints have been plentiful, the new comics are decent, we are spoiled with great merchandise, the video games are better than ever. This is all great but none of it tops the last ronin success story, which is a game changer for the brand no doubt about it.

Hell even if the movie doesn’t get made, the shift in tide is already undeniable.

I am currently liking the new comic series. I find it a touch confusing with bringing in the dead. The afterlife and the living and the spirit of Ujigami and all that stuff, but overall, I am enjoying the series and the artwork. TMNT journeys is also a solid read.

With that being said, I am not a huge fan of the current cartoons of the ninja Turtles and mutant mayhem. I just found OK. So for what we are seeing on TV and the big screen, I will say it’s not great, but that is just my opinion. But as far as comics go, I am enjoying the current storyline.

Overall, I think it really is just a matter of opinion. Mutant mayhem did absolutely fantastic, and most of the reviews are very good. So I know I stand alone when I say I just found it OK I think it just depends on person to person

Yes because after i killed the splinter of 2012 the turltes of the other dimensions are afraid and dont dare to fight me a lot! The 2018 turtrles fought me rarely. The 2024 turtles only fought other criminals and aliens and not me and my foot Ninjas. But as you see i also found some new alies and enemies like the dog ninjas and now i have a lot more power than before as i became the leader of Earth protection force.

I think no matter how you slice it, the 20’s has cemented itself as the worst decade as far as the big 3 of media goes. Movies, TV and comics can’t hold a candle to any of the previous decades.

However, I think an argument can be made that it will be the best decade in other categories. Video games, toys and reprints are unmatched I think.

Is it cheating, though? I'd hardly call the total sum of some Final Fight clones from the 90s a trump card in 2026.

I'd say both TMNT: Out of the Shadows (2013) and TMNT: Mutants in Manhattan (2016) were fascinating failures. If they'd had enough time and money they might have made something great but neither one did. Gun to my head on a given night I'd probably -- PROBABLY -- jump into either game rather than the old Konami stuff.

For video games ia gree as there are new games companies each year now that they create new games. Just 5 hours ago i bought Slitterhead for pc on steam which is the first new game of a new company that released in 2024. On August i played MOUSE PI FOR HIRE which is also a fps/action game and is the first new game of a new games company from Poland and it released on April.

Now there are so many video games that releases each year that is impossilble to play all of them that you want at release date. And since the pandemic a lot more people started to play video games. People who had never played video gamed before.

Just one week ago i read this article where it says that in summer a lot of people upgraded their computers and many if not most of them upgraded them for video games https://www.techpowerup.com/352592/g...-keep-climbing and not for work or general daily use.

But for tv series and comics id ont see any difference now comparedo let say 10 years ago. There are not more series that release each year compared to 4 or 6 years ago.

Yes we have new movies that releases each month but this happens for decades. As for comics it is the same as it was. Most comics of the bigc ompanies like Mickey Mouse Batman Spiderman releases weekly and this also happens for decades

Can’t comment on the games since I haven’t played them. I’ll have to though at some point.

And yes the 2013 and 2016 movies were a massive failure. Sadly I still watch them with my kids and can stomach them, but frick they were terrible. I also absolutely hate Megan Fox. Not sure what it is about her, but I just absolutely can’t stand her as an actress.

It's been a pretty lousy decade for a lot of IPs, so it isn't surprising in the least to see TMNT affected also.

Trying to get 40+ year old toys and comics franchises to appeal to kids and teens with four minute attention spans for everything and who can make their own s*it at the push of a button is always going to be a struggle.
