The only difference is Absolute is a new start for long established characters like Batman and Wonder Woman. The turtles would be starting over the DC way. Unless the release both a more 'traditional' TMNT and an Absolute extreme TMNT at the same general time. |

Looking into Absolute a little more, it seems like it’s a “badguys already won” situation and the heroes are the underdogs. So something more like Same as it Never Was or Forever War? Or maybe they could all be raised as Casey’s younger brothers and they’re street brawlers instead of ninjas? |

How ironic would it be if the Batman/TMNT crossover comics they made was already the starting point of TMNT being part of the DC universe? That universe was already a weird mismash of IDW TMNT and DC anyway, so it wouldn't be that different if they continue it.
I can't remember, was Karai related to Shredder in that crossover too? |

So TMNT already had 4 comic book crossovers with Batman (the Batman/TMNT crossovers and the Nick 2012/B:TAS crossover)
The Batman vs TMNT animated movie, which was loosely based on the first comic crossover. TMNT were playable DLC characters in the Injustice 2 game way back in 2016. We've already had TMNT part of DC stuff for over a decade before this merger happened. Even as early as 1993 if you count Donatello dressing up as "The Dark Turtle" in Season 7 of the original cartoon like Batman. |

Excellent. |

Hm... Well it's obviously just an easter egg, no more meaningful than the scenario that created the Mirage Turtles being implied to the same that gave Daredevil his powers. I don't think we'll get to see the Turtles run around in Absolute Superman or any other DC book because of this... Probably...
Anyway, this reminds me of Livewire's original origin, how lightning first going through Superman before hitting her somehow caused her to develop electric powers. Makes more sense than Electro just getting electrocuted by two fairly normal sources simultaneously but still a bit odd, like, does Superman have the power to process electric current himself or something? It doesn't seem all that consistent with what his powers are. So Kryptonian blood having the power to make turtles humanoid seems like a bit of an odd property to me. Is Kamandi's future now the result of Superman bleeding into the Metropolis Zoo's water supply? |

That would be great, possibly, IF he's a fan. Though does he even work for DC anymore?
Also, in a case of "be careful what you wish for," a few years ago now they finally got Grant Morrison writing Green Lantern, something I'd been wanting forever and it was.... not great. |

What I suspect is the TMNT will be viewed as "elseworld" characters in DC, but they won't become a proper part of the universe.

It's literally impossible for TMNT as a whole to become part of DC proper. For example the Turtles would have to first "debut" where the current timeline of DC comics are, so the Turtles wouldn't even leave the sewers for the first time (as 15 year olds), until Batman already has his 4th Robin (Damian), and where Superman and the Justice League are at the "modern" times until DC reboots. The Turtles simply wouldn't exist till then.
Also we'll never get a live-action TMNT movie integrated into James Gunn's DC universe, or any future one. Assuming the live-action TMNT movie they're working on for 2028+ is even still happening, it'll be its own thing. And same for any future cartoons or whatever, you won't see TMNT appear in a current Batman cartoon or vice versa outside of stuff like crossovers like the animated movie we got. |
