President Curtis

Alright, a Rick and Morty spin-off started airing recently. I suppose we can have a thread for it.

I wanted to see if anyone was going to discuss it, didn't really feel like I should just color their opinion by stating my own in the OP. I'll spoiler the answer for you.
Spoiler:
There are only two episodes as of me writing this so far, maybe it'll pick up steam and we already know there will be like 20 at least, but so far no. It's not very good, it's pretty much the fourth wall leaning and the sci-fi ribbing of Rick and Morty but largely lacks solid jokes. It attempts to throw in a lot of jokes but most aren't that funny and it just becomes lame.

If you remember the Turkey episode from Rick and Morty, there are a lot of jokes about conspiracy theories and distortions of American history and institutions like that but I don't really find it that amusing. Then it's basically just unfunny joke after unfunny joke.

I think the only reason I'd watch is because of my appreciation of Keith David. That man could narrate a spider documentary and I'd probably enjoy every minute.

So Adult Swim officially uploaded the first episode to Youtube, usually not a good sign when they do so less than halfway through the first season airing. As a little reminder, Adult Swim hasn't done that for Rick and Morty proper.

Alright so season 1 has finished... Any thoughts on it? Like, at all? No?

Well I have one, the Hollow Earth episode seemed strangely similar to the Microverse Battery episode of Rick and Morty, which makes me wonder if it was based on an earlier draft of that episode or if was proposed as a R&M script that got rejected and redrafted for PC. Which in turn makes me wonder how many of these episodes are just scrapped R&M episodes.

I think I'm two seasons behind on R&M now, it became so average, I didn't eve get to a point where I hated it, it was just so bland I felt nothing. I guess I'll catch up and also watch this but man, each season after 2 just kept getting more and more generic.

I haven't watched any of the current season myself. I will eventually it's just... I don't feel any burning desire to unlike I used to with earlier seasons. And it's not the lack of Roiland or anything, there was some terrible stuff coming out just before he left.

I watched this; I thought it was alright. I’d rated as slightly better than average, to me at least. I enjoyed the last season of Rick & Morty, too though
