She is a little on the heavier side, a bit too old but at least she does have an 80s bush that you'd expect FW April to have.
She has done other films not specifically labeled as TMNT parodies where she is basically also interpreting TMNT April O'Neil, but I haven't done a review of those.
Hmmm interesting. Perhaps I need a closer look

Lmao she is not on the heavier side and that’s not an “80’s bush”, it’s just pubic hair.

But yeah she doesn’t really look like April and I was never really a fan, for whatever reason.

Yeah, I didn’t think she was heavy either. Not that there is anything wrong with a heavier woman. I actually like heavier women. My wife is on the thicker side. I mean to a point…. 250 plus pounds gets a little nasty lol. But I actually don’t like a toothpick type girl myself.

I can tolerate it as long as they are supporting characters or villains. Since they insist on portraying the IDW turtles as a bunch of sissy pacifists, then there could make a new mutant turtle character who can kill people(without any brainwashing nonsense) as their reflection, it can also be used as a plot device to kill other redundant characters.

Very true. Wouldn’t mind that either. I also wouldn’t mind seeing the turtles go to the after life and come back with a Ujigami type spirit. Watching them just wreck and kill at will for a bit would be awesome lol , but they will never pull the trigger on that lol

Considering IDW Leo's past life experiences, and he was brainwashing into foot soldier in the modern timeline, it's reasonable that his hatred for the Foot Clan might be even stronger than Splinter.

If IDW doesn't choose to downplay this, we might see other interesting story developments.

I like Re-Evolution and I think the new turtles are cool.

I think IDW should just end the ongoing soon and be done with the 2011 continuity. Their monthly TMNT book should be about Casey Marie and the gang.

Those new Turtles are really bad. I can't even describe their personalities if I tried.

Saw a post on Reddit with people discussing whether or not TMNT still counts as an "indie" comic seeing as it's not (yet) published by DC or Marvel.

It definitely isn't now, as an IP licensed out to a publisher by one of the world's largest multimedia conglomerates, but I think a strong argument could be made that, despite the cartoon and the toys and the branded food with the first film on the way, it actually was still independent up through Return to New York. Eastman and Laird told more or less whatever story they wanted to without any oversight. Once the book fully enters the Guest Era, it became more of a momentum-driven curiosity adjacent to what made the real money, even when Eastman and Laird returned for City at War.

Tempted to throw v4 in there as well. It's got name recognition, but once again is down to the whims of the people working on it without being beholden to corporate synergy or, ahem, release schedule.

The moment Mirage sold the franchise in 2009, it was no longer owned by an "indie" company. Paramount/Nick is huge.

Right, but the argument is whether or not the rampant early success of the cartoon and the franchise as a whole negates some of the original run being considered, and... I think it might? If you have to pass the creative reigns to others so you can handle the business side of things, you're creating work-for-hire gigs, even at a small scale.

By the time Nickelodeon got hold of them, the Turtles had been around for 25 years with multiple cartoons and movies and whatever else under their belts. So, did their independent status end in 1987 when the Fred Wolf cartoon debuted? In 1989 with the third issue of Return to New York? Six months later with the Steve Barron film? It's a strangely blurry line.

Uno is the best fighter and a cocky little prick. He's like a less humorous Rise Leo.

Odyn is a big lug/teddy bear, but very strong. He's like a less confident Rise Raph.

Yi is the tech-wiz and a little high strung. She's girl Donnie.

Moja is sullen and enjoys her solitude. She's got maybe a little of each turtle in her. She butts heads with Uno frequently since she's so protective and reserved. Visually she kinda resembles Mikey in his Ronin garb, so she might be the most significant turtle in the next story if she's the Michelangelo of this team.

Pretty crazy take to say IDW is "indie". You sometimes will see book stores and comic shops categorize everything that isn't Marvel/DC as "indie", but that's just arbitrary and lazy.

In the past, they were more likely to use up and coming writers and artists rather than industry names, but still... they can't do anything without running it past Nickelodeon corporate. That is not independent.

Sounds cool and all don’t get me wrong. I personally just think Last Ronin has run its course. I stopped reading a while ago, but to each their own. Still selling issues and still sounds entertaining, but sometimes series can carry on a bit too long in my opinion

I am loving Absolute Batman as well, but I hope it doesn’t carry on a crazy long time. As unpopular as that may sound lol

That's what I thought! Even if they're not cranking out movies and shows at the same rate as the big two, Image and IDW and... I guess not as much Dark Horse anymore, but Oni and a whole string of other publishers have been around for decades at this point. Hardly the same vibe as a couple of guys writing and drawing a book at their kitchen table.

So, what's the cutoff? 2009 is a viable answer as far as rights ownership, but I think it happened much earlier.

1984-2009 was just Kevin and/or Peter doing whatever the hell they wanted. Even though there was money behind it at the time, Peter made it clear that he was printing volume 4 and Tales at a loss. So that’s indie to me. Purely a passion project to the end.

Even TMNTA counts to me. Archie editorial only interfered a small handful of time and Muprh wrote one of the most avant garde comic book runs of all time lol. There’s a lot of Mirage DNA in there. Lawson, Dooney, Brown, Berger, Farley and even Bissette all left their fingerprints on it.

Not to mention it’s still going on and being independently produced and printed out of Russia.

Even though I disagree with some of the changes in Rise TMNT, the turtles, fat Splinter and magic weapons, at least they stuck to it and tried to do it well. By contrast, IDW TMNT is even inferior to them and repeatedly wasted its potential.

Can’t say much. I love the current IDW even with the weird after life story. Rise of. Is horrific.

Oh, absolutely.

On one hand, Rise dawdled a lot with comedy/filler episodes, but 2 seasons really isn’t a lot. And I know people might have been put off by certain characterizations and the art direction, but… the people behind Rise has a vision and plan they were working towards and just needed the time to get there.

IDW is just farming out Marvel/DC talent and doing whatever at this point. The book could have easily ended after Armageddon Game or #150. I think they’re just running out the clock until their contract with Skydance runs out.

IDW's main problem is there's no control over the direction of the series. Tom Walts and Bobby Curnow ran a tight ship when they were doing the first 100 issues and making sure all the mini-series and specials tied-in with the main ongoing. Since IDW keeps changing writers every batch of issues now, we don't have that anymore.

As far as I know IDW's license is through 2028, if it does end by then I hope they know ahead of time to give us a definitive and proper ending.
