Just 2 cents. And about the TMNT 4 OST - well - definitely the 80s methinks.

o_O Your friend is strange. You dont educate someone on multiple forms of music at once anyways. Vader is eh....anyways Dimmu have one really great CD and then before that they have decent ones. Their 2 newest are garbage <_< I cant stand to listen to them.

Oh well - he tried different forms at once and wanted to share his own joy of being a musical explorer with me. It was 2001, we were young and reckless at that time. And probably Dimmu Borgir had already its best album out.
I thought about April's theme - "Lady in Yellow" based on Chris Rea's "Lady in Red".

The best Dimmu album came out in 2001 it was titled "Puritanical Euphoric Misanthropia" A mouthful isnt it? Like I said earlier it's rare to know anyone who shares my muscial taste

dimmu borgir on a tmnt soundtrack? well its not a bad idea, but i dont think the people behind the movie or the soundtrack would go for that. it would not surprise if they put in music from elvis, franky boy, michael jakcson, the beatles or some new nu metal crap. but if they are going to use some norwegian or scandinavian black metal i hope they not just looking for dimmu borgir , but bands like satyricon, darkthrone, enslaved or even burzum.

and some music from nine inch nails like, happiness in slavery, closer, or the brilliant hurt.

I wouldnt want Dimmu Borgir on the soundtrack. They would use the new stuff if they did and I just want all music made for the movie that's all. People dont share my belief that metal can match TMNT

Don't you watch "Hit Me Baby One More Time"??? No surprise that Vanilla Ice won when he was on (they have 5 different 70's, 80's and 90's groups/people each week...and whoever wins gets like 10 grand towards the charity of their choice ).... Anyways... Vanilla Ice.... have u heard his new stuff??? He was a heavy metal singer for a while there but is now getting back into rap.

How about those songs they've been playing in the series??? Or even Simon and Garfunkle's "A Heart In New York"??? Or Pat Benetar's "Shadows of the Night"??

I wouldn't mind hearing '80s music in the background during a Turtles movie. I love the genre and it is their decade... but there seem to be a lot of '80s haters in the world, so they may not do it. I myself am not a fan of any modern rock (regardless of type) or rap. Ugh.

An original soundtrack would rock indeed, Spitfire... but what genre to put it in? Not surprisingly, I would recommend '80s style... with perhaps some really dramatic scores like they put in big action movies such as LotR or PotC. Just make the style say "Turtles" and I'm fine with it. Even the style of the stuff they play in the background of the new show is tolerable.

some music/artist that would hope be on a tmnt soundtrack if it was kinda 1980s style.

it must be different tunes, not only one music style.

5.the b5s - planet claire
6.billy idol - white wedding

Number 2 - perfect for the ending theme...
Number 48 - well, if only Venus is about to appear in the movie...
Number 49 - the movie script should have a turtle mutiny against Splinter to include that one - maybe in TMNT 5

>2 (Forever Young) - I'm with Robweiller on this one.
>12 (Under Pressure) - Yes! The tone wouldn't exactly fit a "pressure" situation, but at least it isn't Vanilla Ice's ripped-off version (aka Ice Ice Baby) *kicks Vanilla Ice for ruining a perfectly good song...*
>31 (Jump) - Training montage, anyone?
>46 (Africa) - Only one of my most favorite songs ever. Perhaps one of the bros gets lost/injured and they're searching for him?
>49 (Another Brick in the Wall) I'm with ya again, Rob...

This is '70s, but how about "Carry On My Wayward Son" (Kansas) for some exchange between Splinter and Raph?

Or how 'bout "Living on a Prayer" (Bon Jovi?) for something...?

The idea of character themes

I am loving the 80s music. I am definitely a child of that time and I always love me some bowie
I was thinking how could it be to have a basic background instrumental that has a variaton depending on which character was being forcused on. It Unifies them as brothers and a team but changes to signify their personalities.
Example... it gets a little harder with some heavier bass on Raph or gets a little Techno with Don, becomes a little lighter bouncier with mikey or more melodic and fluid with Leo with the intensity about half of what Raph's may be but powerful cause he is the leader...It could be four themes in one song and at one point it could combine in a clever way...agh I wish I could compose! Darn my lack of musical talent!
I dunno just a random thought when I was walking to work listening to Sin City instrumental The Servant.
The idea is reminiscent of how Danny elfman works when he does stuff for tim burton. He gives everything it's own theme, there is never anything generic.
As much as I love pre exisitng songs and I would like some of that in there too I want to see some original scores indefinitely. Everyone on here has some awesome taste

I am fine with what they do in the show it works for the cartoon. Maybe just a few steps further and something not so synthy generic. My B/f watches with me sometimes and he has a bit of an ear for digitally composed music sometimes he thinks they aren't enough diffences in what they use.
I haven't so much pulled out any of the previous soundtracks. I want one I can add to my ipod and listen to while I walk the city. Something real wicked, to match the moods of the city and the tone of the stories.
My head is buzzing with ideas

Gorillaz wouldn't be a bad choice. Heck, they could animate the band into the movie! Seriously though, a lot of their stuff could work. I like the idea of 80's music, but I like that genre to begin with.

Could use Chumbawumba's "Tubthumper" in the beginning or for the ending music; all they would have to do is modify the intro from The Commitments:

Truth is, I thought it mattered,
I thought that music mattered -
but does it not bullocks compare to our turtles matter?

I get knocked down!
But I get up again!
You ain't never gonna keep me down!

Take *THAT*, Shredder and co!

I'm thinking I should just shut up now. That is my idea of a perfect soundtrack.

The thing about music for this film is that it truly depends on the plot. How dark (or non dark) will the finished project actually be? Guess we'll have to wait to see (and hear).
Thinking about the subject more and more, I realize that you could take the music in a number of directions.
If it has tons of 'wild and crazy action' like Bruckheimer films, then I think it would be perfect to get Hans Zimmer to score. His score for Broken Arrow was amazing. Bruckheimer's films tend to have very cool, well done scores (like Broken Arrow, The Rock, and Con Air) that give the films more life, excitement, and soul. So hearing music like the ones in those films would give the movie a more epic, emotional feeling that would basically kick major ass.
If their are training sequence/sequences, I've always been fond of the Rocky IV soundtrack (one of my favs). I very much loved the songs "Hearts on Fire"(excellent song for training) and "No Easy Way Out" (a perfect song for my fav turtle Raphael).
At the end of the film, I've thought that it would be cool to use a song from a band called Alter Bridge. It would either be "In Loving Memory" (especially if something tragic happened in the film), "Open Your Eyes (could interpret that maybe turtles have changed/grown from beginning of the film to the end) or "Broken Wings". Or heck, even the "Count on Us" song from the TMNT Coming out of their Shells (maybe different singers/change a couple of lyrics/or keep as is) would be a little cool.
Hopefully the music will be taken seriously by the talents and treat it, along with every other aspect of the film, with the proper respect. We can only wait and see and hear.
