If not darker, can you describe the tone that the new film will have? I understand if those details can't be revealed at this time and thanks for joining this site. Looking forward to your insight.
I'd say it's safe to say that the tone is "dark action-adventure with dollops of humor." By "humor" I mean Mikey. By "dark" I mean it's got some serious fight scenes and a fairly heavy story. Definitely darker than the previous three films.

Thanks a lot Murphy. Your insight is very much appreciated. Again, welcome to the site and thanks. It's good to hear that the film is story heavy yet still retains a lot of action.

Wow! If it's darker than the first film then I'm completely sold. Visually and tonally the first film treads some very fine lines - I can't wait to see the next trailer!

I hear you. I wish we (Mirage) could help out here but at the moment there aren't any such promo freebies in sight... but as the release date draws nearer I'd bet (and hope) that either the animation studio (Imagi) or North American distributor (Warner Bros) might start providing such things.

The only sort of freebie promo thing that I'm aware of is a CD "mini video game" from Ubisoft that Playmates Toys will be slipping into the movie action figures when they begin to hit retail in early January. Only playable on PCs.

OK, thanks for all the info. You rock, man.

I guess I'll just sit here and twiddle my thumbs.

Or form a rogue party of promo-fu bandits.

One of those.

Even darker than the first film? Nice! Or as Borat would say: "Great Success!"

Not sure, but please check the rules thread. I believe that word is outlawed here. Fortunately, the song only haunts me for a few hours on end now. DAMN YOU, DAISY SOUR CREAM!! Just an unconventional segué into the conversation, ignore this paragraph if you like. It was a joke anywho.

Now, where was I? Um... Oh, right! Welcome to the 'drome, (Mr.) Murphy. Since Katie missed you, please accept this on her behalf. It's a fruit that's like... official for some reason, and... uhh... Well, I'll just let her tell you the mango story when she gets here. 'Kay? Enjoy your stay.

P.S. - I second the Mirage Studios general blog idea. Just say "employees, here's a blog. Any one of you has to write something useful on there each week". It's up to you if you think a rotation of the workers is in order, or just a haphazard 'whoever feels up to it this week'. I just hope it works out one way or another.

You have just put my fears to rest. I think you sir.

Yeah. If the word "sabbatical" was meant in the noun sense in the first post of this topic, then I don't necessairly agree with him leaving his customary work to acquire new skills or training, but it's for the best of things for him to do that, I guess. Hopefully that clears things up for ya good enough.

hehe I see I have had a call to action!!

I just wanted to drop into the thread and and say welcome aboard, Murphy!

I'm Katie, and I usually do this bit in the welcome section, but you warrent a venture away from my usual habitat. It is always nice to have a staffer come along and share thoughts

Before I go, let me give you a mango, the official welcome fruit of the drome! *hands over a * looks around *flings 's to everyone nearby* It's a tradition I didn't start, but carry on proudly...and they say I make a mean mango smoothie

Have fun and post often! I have enjoyed lurking in this thread and getting the inside scoop

Mango just pawn in game of life

Thanks for the mango.

I think.

Now... someone sent me a private email message asking why the pre-Fast Forward TMNT DVDs seem to be disappearing from US retail store shelves. I have no idea... but I'll ask around.

No need to send me private emails. This public forum's cool for asking and answering questions.

Sorry. I didn't want to be off topic in this thread. *Speaks loud enough for the board's moderators to hear* But, if you insist... You can read the unedited discussion of this matter in the 2K3 DVDs No Longer Being Shipped thread. Thanks for the concern.

Hey Murph,

I remember my first mango, it seems so long now... At any rate, I have a quick question for you if you don't mind.

Obviously without giving too much away; it was stated several times by Kevin Munroe that the new film will accept the first film and "aspects" of the second film as canon.

What does KM mean by "aspects" of the second film? Again, I'm not looking for crazy spoilers or anything a general answer can work just as well. Thanks for your time.

Here's what the dude at the 4Kids/Funimation DVD office had to say:

"With less space at retail, most stores carry very limited older releases. Most (unsold ones) get returned as new ones are released."

So... older DVDs are disappearing except via on-line retailers.

That's the way of the world, sad to say....
