TMNT deleted scene (possible spoilers)

I just got a chance to see the finished version.

The movie has been cut down (it was at least 2 hours...) so expect a DVD with some nice deleted scenes or perhaps a directors cut.

Here is one of the scenes I noticed wasn't in the finished version of the film but I had seen previously:

Spoiler:
In the beginning they don't show that Mikey is at a party right away, they start with him on a com-link inside the Cowabunga Carl head talking to Don, basically freaking out like he's about to be attacked.

All the kids run in and beat the crap out of him.

He is on the ground and all the children leave the room for cake. The last kid to leave the room stops, turns back towards Mikey and just kicks him in the stomach.

We see a shot from above with Mikey laying there curling up into a fetal position with pained whimpering. Cut to him leaving the party, the kids chanting "byebye" and all that with one kid screaming over all the others "You suck!".

The whole scene is very funny and sad at the same time.

If you are reading these forums most likely you will enjoy the movie.

I did feel there was a bit missing from this scene in the movie. Where did you see this? Any ideas on any other scenes that are missing? It would be great if they can add them back in to the movie for the DVD as it did feel particularly short to me.

That is pretty much like what we saw in San Diego-- only the last line was by the girl who crotch-kicked Mikey afterwards-- THIS is the BEST birthday ever! I think I need my medicine!"

Let's face it-- there are things that we saw a year ago that were prolly changed-- all the more reason for a TWO DISC SET!!!!!

There are actually a lot of differences between the finished movie, the various previews we've seen (including trailers), and especially the novelization.

I'm gonna work on compiling a ginormous list of differences this week (well, I'll start on it at least).

Differences like how? Music? Dialouge?

There was at least one dialogue change from a clip in the trailer. All scenes we saw with finished music are the same in the movie. There are lots of scenes in the book that are not in the movie at all. And some of the pictures that were leaked after Christmas are not in the movie at all.

What about that part in the book when Mikey and Don have that little serious conversation about behind behind. Did that make it in?

the game had dialogue from the part in the novel where they play Ninja tag
Spoiler:
(Don suggests Leo and Raph team up and the both of them end up in a shoving match because their team work sucks)
I think its safe to say that got cut out as well.

Huh? Behind behind?

Spoiler:
There is no ninja tag in the movie.

Damn it, that was one of the best parts of the novelization!

Spoiler:
Mikey at the party?

Mikey talking to Don about never leaving the glass bowl?

Leo and Raph's shoving match during ninja tag?

I am seriously ****ing pissed off now. This thing was originally 2 hours?? Why has it been butchered?

studios are afraid to put out longer flicks, especially when they have to think of the little ones. sometimes it works, sometimes it does'nt. a shame to because some of the bad reviews wanted more interesting interaction between the turtles---and from what we know they had some that got deleted for whatever reason.

I am guessing someone at Warner Brothers is to blame.

I would suggest to see the film before you get too pissed off. Even with the scenes missing it still worked and it was still very understable why the characters had conflicts, plus it just gives us more to look forward to for a super awesome DVD package...

Now give us a lame DVD release and THEN I will be pissed

To be fair, I can understand why the birthday party part was changed; I think you'll agree when you see the movie.

A lot of the bits in the lair that were in the book were not in the movie.. like Mike and Don avoiding practice after Leo is back and anything about Don installing the air conditioner. Mike is also not portrayed as a Nightwatcher fanboy.

And yeah, no Mike/Don conversation and no ninja tag.

Yeah, I guess movie studios do that. It's just sad ... that really was one of my favourite parts of the novelization.

I hope this stuff at least makes the dvd. I would like to know more of what could have been cut out. "Alternate versions" of movies always kinda fascinated me

Hopefully, the film does great and we'll be able to see the 2 hour cut of the film.

was the Mikey beat down part edited because they thought it was to violent or something?

Also it is a shame that the serious conversation about "not ever leaving the fish bowl" between Mike and Donatello was not included. I really like when they give Michaelangelo indepth character moments that show he is not jusat the silly wacky turtle. But what ever I'm still really looking foward to the movie and the Raph+Leo tension.

I can see it now: TMNT - UNRATED!! Technically, it would be unrated even though it's still all PG material. But, how many idiots do you think would buy it expecting to see blood or brief nudity?

Sounds logical. But, since the DVD is slated for July 10th, 15 and a half weeks after its theatrical release, I'm not sure if I should be worried or not. Nearly four months sounds like enough time to churn out a fairly impressive DVD, but it really seems like they're planning on making it a cookie-cutter release in as much as they even have a street date for the DVD already.

It's not fear. Sure, they're afraid of turning off the audience with a movie that is too long, but they have to pay exponentially more for every additional minute shown in theaters. They just don't want to take the risk that it would hurt the box office ratings. Remember, they have to make $100 mil domestic to ensure a sequel. So, I imagine the production was all for it, saying "there's always DVD".
