Endings that were just TOO convenient?

As promised, what are some scenarios that happened that you thought were just too convenient to be believable?

Most of the ones I can think of are things like a random portal opening up (as in Attack of the Big Macc).

I think that's all I have right now...

...Have you ever heard of the term "suspension of disbeleif?", the original series is what Futurama later brought to the table. Stop taking things so seriously.

Watching them now made me realize just how far fetched some of the storylines were but I mean things that happened that weren't really far fetched but just seemed really random as if they needed something quick to put an end to an episode. If I took the show so seriously, I probably wouldn't be able to watch it. I mean, how the turtles are able to change the colour of their bandanas and back at will is beyond me

BTW, no I've never heard of that term before...

I can barely take the old series seriously in the first five episodes let alone the rest of the series. Not taking it seriously really helps in watching it... It's kind of the same technique I use on TMNT 2 during the night club scene.

That technique still doesn't help with TMNT 3, though.

Hmm how bout when the Shredder made 3 of the TMNT into bloated balloons for the rest of their lives, and suddenly.. Splinter saves them with... mothballs??? Even the turtles themselves didn't believe it.

Or the super-explosive alien kid's toy that was like some kind of doomsday device... and April suddenly stopped it by pulling out the batteries....

Or the famous quick ending in most if not all cartoons. Big fight in some place that somehow causes sparks to some open gas pipe or whatever, the place is gonna blow, so everyone runs the hell out, good guys win, bad guys swear to come back another day, all in 2 minutes...

About the batteries... I think that was more of a punchline than a convenient ending.

It was a rather slapstick series by that point. Ending the threat and the episode on such a punchline wasn't unheard of back then. It was just the way things were after the Soccor Moms took control of television.

The mothballs one in 'Michaelangelo's Birthday' is another great example, for sure!

Kind of difficult to write a script for a 22-and-change minute story and not have plot holes big enough to drive the Technodrome through.
but yeah, some of it was like, uhm? Okay? But most of it was amusing anyway.

Well there are a lot of cartoons that end too conviniently. Especially the old TMNT toon. Hell even in the new toon there are moments when this happens. This has been going on since story telling began. It happens in Beowulf when he kills Grendel's mom because there happened to be a magical sword laying aroun there.( damn I feel like such a nerd now ) But yeah..suspension of disbelief is what makes it fiction.
As for helping TMNT III. Not even Peter Laird himself could've saved that one, let alone a story telling device.

In Elementary, My Dear Turtle.

In In Elementary, My Dear Turtle I remember the TMNT returning from 1890 to 1990 without any time travel, so their time travel is just temporary..

Some things that happened (like being one place then another after the comercial break) I just assumed where just transitions that happened off camera and where not to important and was done just to keep with a fluid flow of the episode.

I mean seriously, do you really want to see every moment of what the turtles are doing? I bet some of the time their are boring moments between zany crazy moments that are not interesting. In the second episode of the series where the turtles are searching in fulite for the technodrome and where getting no where and where bored out of their minds, did you really want to see all of that or would you rather skip over it and get to the part where Raphael and Michaelangelo nearly get run over by a subway train? Which was probably the most eventful part of that whole segment.

Michealangelo's birthday, he's strapped to the Flushomatic with no way out, acid-like mutagen about to drip on his face, it's like half an inch away from his nose.....

Cut to a commercial, suddenly the ooze is just starting to drip out and Mikey has plenty of time to somehow get the hell outta there.

Basically every ending to the OT was almost too convenient. I never thought about it when I was younger. Now that I realize it, I simply just enjoy the ep anyway. Like they said, 22 mins isn't long enough to wrap them all up. That's what makes the series fun and silly.

I honestly can't site what episode this is from, but Krang explained this in one episode, when he gave Shredder...something to help with their plan.

Shredder: "You just happened to have one of these laying around?"
Krang: "We have to keep the story moving."

I don't mind the TMNT being dark, but still, overall, as a TMNT fan, I'm the kind of guy who prefers a happy ending. That makes all the difference to me. I loved the OT for this.

Ha ava, silly things like this happened so often I began to expect them. Raph would always have some smart quip to explain the unexplainable as well.

How about the way the TMNT cured themselves of their secondary mutations by getting their 2 time traveling friends go into the past, get the past selves of the TMNT so the Past TMNT can give the Present TMNT a blood transfusion. WTF?! All that did was cause a time paradox. Plus the fact that Carter was never cured....he simply went 15 years in the future.
