Where do you see the TMNT toy line heading?

Where do you see the TMNT toy line heading over the next two years? More FF? Return of the 2003 series toys? a whole new direction? or no more toys at all?

I'm guessing a year of FF toys then after that I think it may go in a whole new direction.

I have to agree that I'm not optimistic about the toy line's future. They're probably release the stuff they have planned (a few more movie figs and a few more FF figs) throughout the rest of the year, but after that? Who knows...

I would like to get some new FF figs and then a return to the 2k3 series. But this seems completely rediculous and unlikely. Honestly, I just hope playmates gets the rest of the FF figs out before they hit rock bottom.

I think the tmnt toy line is coming to an end soon.

Well, I guess it all depends on the cartoon doesn't it, in a number of ways...

For one, what are the numbers on the viewership? Is it a "top show"? I ask, because I have no idea. If the cartoon is still pretty strong, you can expect more lines. If its not looking too good (or if it ends!), then all bets are off

And secondly, if the cartoon is still around, its probably going to depend on the theme (paleo, FF, etc.) I sincerely doubt they'll rehash 2k3 toys (though I'd love it). For me, FF can't end soon enough.

But overall, my gut says things are probably winding down. It has been a good run though. And its lasted alot longer than I thought it wood.

I'm not sure where it is going, but I dang sure can tell you where I'd like to see it go.

I'd like to see TMNT 2007 do really well on DVD, then an official announcement that there will be a sequel and maybe even a new trilogy. Then I would like to see the toy line shift towards tons of movie figs and maybe even some figs based on Tales of the TMNT while the cartoon figs continue to do well.

Of course I'm not even really buying any of them now, I'm too busy completing (HA!) my original series, but that doesn't mean I won't catch up someday. I'd like them all to be there when I'm ready.

One foot note, (Hehe, I said "foot"!) and it's the same old story as with the original series, I'd like to see less different versions of Shredder and the Turtles and more different characters. Obscure characters even. Who cares if they're in just one episode or one comic? Sometimes new figs of the guys are great but so many should have been scrapped at the prototype stage.

There's a whole bunch of new Fast Forward toys that they showed off around a year ago that never came out. A FF Bishop, Starlee, Constable Biggles, Triple Threat...etc.

I imagine the second wave of FF figures will come out in the fall to coincide with the second season of FF. I also see the last batch of movie toys out this year.

What happens in 2008 depends on what form the new cartoon takes. Will there even be another season after the second FF one? We don't know, and that's why we have no idea where the toys will go afterward.

It's hard to tell. I don't think any newer line will be as strong as it was 2-3 years ago but we'll see.

Unfortunately, its the popular characters that sell...if PM was designing the line with old school fans/collectors in mind, the toy line would look alot different IMO...

From when I emailed Playmates, right now they're just focusing on the next movie release of figures its seems, which they said are coming in the fall. Big gap, but ah well.

Yes and like I've said before they told me that the last batch of Fast Forward may come out in 2008 but then again it may not everything up in the air.

While I doubt its gonna happen, I think the movie line, and look is my fave, and I hope if a new toon comes out its based on the movie-verse, and brings more movie style toys with it, flame if you will, but im not thrilled with FF, and havent seen enough of the 2k3 toon(tho I probably will pick up dvd seasons) the movie version just seems to give them all more unique personalities.

well hopefully they'll fix the playable quality of the toys. my little nephews got one of those attack crawlers and it promptly fell apart. It ran for like 30 seconds and the battery died. that's crap.

oh geez, that is a pain to deal with. Also, I think that they need to fix the paint job on the action figures. The movie turtles look good but they had some paint missing...at least all of mine.

my opinion: 2008 marks the 20th anniversary of TMNT so Playmates will prolly go all out! Personally, i'm hoping for some vintage commemorative figures! Maybe the original 10 rereleased and resculpted to look like they did in the vintage toon!
