OK- who owns the vol.1 #4 misprint?

...as seen here as the third cover on the webpage.

http://www.ninjaturtles.com/comics/m...me01/04/04.htm

i want one. rather than be all quiet as to 'not let the secret out' , i'd rather talk about it. would this be the one of the most sought after tmnt comics? what an interesting variant....

so own up if ya gots one!

not me. I have the correct 2nd printing. The one with the misprinted cover is about Cousin Sid.

I am guilty of spending the rediculous amount of money for the one that was on ebay a week or so ago. I am a VERY serious TMNT comic collector and I have never even seen this one for sale before finding it on eBay recently. So I jumped on it.

Here is it.

This is the most expensive comic book I've ever purchased - I paid significantly less for even my #1 first printing. Now if only I could bring myself to pay the amount of money that the two original Gobbledygooks have been going for.

Holy crap, that's awesome. I would freak if I just happened to find one at a Half Price books or something.

Speaking of which, the misprint version of Vol. 2 #13, which I did get at Half Price, is probably way less rare (although Dan did say I was the first he had heard of actually obtaining one). On that misprint, the front and back covers are reversed.

Got that one right here.

I'm not sure how distribution was on that one, but I was actually under the assumption that the corrected cover was more rare than the error cover. The error is the one that just showed up at my comic shop and was put into my subscription box when that book was first published. I think I randomly found a corrected cover a few months later.

Ah, so you got #2. Tried for that one, went too high. Can't say I've seen anything like those before, actually.

And that same seller had a piece featuring, interestingly, SIX turtles, dressed as Marvel heroes. Thor, Daredevil, Conan, Captain America, Wolverine, and another that could be Spidey, and I'm dissapointed in myself for not being sure. I was very interested, foaming at the mouth actually, but again, too rich for my blood that week.

Yeah, got that one, too.

I think the other one you didn't name is supposed to be Iron Man.

Ahh, so you bought it...and yea, in my 7 yrs or so on ebay, I have never (knowingly) seen one....so good job snagging it! Like you, Im pretty serious about tmnt comic book collecting, but my heart is tmnt toys (so thats where the big bucks go to)...

And yea, I got those errored #13s as well by pure chance...when I found out about the error a few years ago and I just checked my comics and found that I had 2 copies, 1 corrected 1 errored- what good luck!

And how much are those 2 Gobbledys selling for? I havent seen them on ebay...

EDIT: Oh and Rose, would you mind snagging a pic of the error and/or corrected inside cover of Image #9 whenever you get the chance (so I know which one I got)...i didnt see it your collection pics...

I own this variant and was also looking for it forever before I found it. I got it the same place as most of my rare items, Ebay. I won it in a lot of TMNT comics where the seller didn't know he had the error cover, about 5 years ago or so. I paid about $27 and I ended up with alot of comic doubles.

Does the opposite exist? Tales #1 with the #4 cover? I've never seen one, and I suspect they were all destroyed before making it to stores.

I never heard of the #13 error..I'll have to keep an eye out.

I also got the #3 error cover on Ebay for $50 long ago...it recently went for over $500! I was a watcher on those #2 and 3 ads on Ebay recently. I was going to bid, but alas they went way too high. Congratulations you winners! That seller has sold some good stuff lately.

edit: about that #3 error cover....holy hippo spit.... http://cgi.ebay.com/TMNT-3-NYC-VARIA...QQcmdZViewItem

Well over $1,000 recently. Often close to $2,000. Each. One of the problems, IMO, is that Overstreet used to (and for all I know, still does) list #1 as the first TMNT appearance.. which isn't technically true. There's an ad for the TMNT comic on the back, but they didn't appear in a story or anything. I think the price is inflated based on people thinking it's the FIRST TMNT.

Sure thing. I'll try to remember to break out the box this weekend.

Good job with that! I was always hoping that's how it would happen for me... alas.

The info about these two books in the TMNT Treasury sure makes it seem that both exist, but I've never seen or heard of anyone having Tales #1 with the #4 cover.

Big asking price, but will anyone actually pay it? That's the question. I forget how much I paid for mine... I *think* it was less than $100, but I honestly don't remember. It may be one of the few books that I paid more for than I paid for my #1 first print.

Here is the #13 error for sale. For way too much, but you can see the reverse cover deal.

Cool. I saw that #13 error last night on there. It's not very appealing to me. Reversed covers is an error that isn't very aesthetically pleasing. I like the #3 and 4 errors alot better. I'm also not a fan of double-cover errors.

I own it! I remember being like, "Wow, April does not get kidnapped in this issue."

Also I paid like $16 for it. Um ... should they have been selling it for more?

Really? Dan gave me the impression that a majority of them were recalled so there wouldn't be a lot that leaked.

I dont think i've ever seen any of them misprints before, may have overlooked em on ebay before, those are pretty kool and a little funny lol.

but i actually do own one misprint, but im thinking i got the only copy it happened to cause i havent heard about anyone else laughing about it or mentioning it, but my Tales of Leonardo: Blind sight #4 has all 16 pages(32 with front and back) but only has pages #9-16, 17-24 and are(going from front page to back) 9-16, 9-16, 17-24, 17-24 but it could be more of mishap that a misprint.
