Fall TMNT Toys

Uh... Alien attack?

http://toynewsi.com/news.php?catid=20&itemid=11825

My opinion: The new heads look pretty bad except maybe Dons. What is up with Raph's teeth?! Leo looks like he just got a repaint head from one of the 2 packs which is sorta lame. The aliens don't have much articulation or paint apps, but the designs are interesting so I'll probably buy them even though they have NOTHING to do with the movie. Seems like more shoulda been fast forward designs coming our way, and FF seems to be gone. This just makes me appreciate the NECA deal even more now... C'mon NECA, don't let me down!

Well, there's 8 more figures I don't have to worry about buying.

What's with the wrinkled toes?

I don't remember these being in the movie!

God, Playmates sucks. I love how they always slyly go back to zero paint and articulation after a couple of waves. Do they put any effort into these things at all?

Y'know, I'll probably buy these since the Turtles *finally* look like different sculpts and have different facial expressions then all the other movie variants.

As for the aliens, eh, I may get them. I see Playmates is making up their own characters again, just like they did in the old toon like with all those mutants line King Lionheart, Hot spot, Scratch, etc.

God, I can't wait for Jagwar and hopefully other Mutanimals toys. Now those are what needs to be made.

I agree that these characters don't look that great with the paint jobs and all, but to be honest, I am glad to see Playmates making dumb characters like this; stuff that some Mirage people would have tossed a hissy fit over the fact that it's not Mirage cannon enough for him. These look like those throw away old toon characters that Krang would have used as bounty hunters and hired muscle to fight the TMNT. It's good to see a wave with four turtles and four villians. I was getting tired of the lack of villians and the surplus of the OMGWTFBBQ Macrocat Action TMNT figures. This is an okay compromise. The TMNT figures sell to the kids and collectors, but there are people like me who are happy with the basic 2k3 turtles and a ton of secondary characters of all odds and ends.

Yeah, they easily could have just as well made a Wingnut alien (as Wes pointed out) as well as a General Traag. But hey, this is enough for Slash to be happy about. New characters. Now I don't have to wait for other characters to come around as much.

I'll probably end up just doing that though; tossing these with the Krang figure as his most recent Dimension X crew. And you know what? They look good with him. Yeah, I do think it's going to suck that Chrome Dome, Traag, etc, are going to be midgets next to these supersized aliens, but it's something new for me to drool over.

I say let's Playmates continue with this. And let's hope NECA fives us some cool stuff to.

That's because the website changed it, it originally said Fall.

They remind me of Titanus' crew from the old toon - ask Putrescent for more info... Also like Battle Beasts.

ummm yeah can anyone say Fast Forward left overs I'd rather them have released these as Fast Forward figures instead of them adding them to the movie world they just make more sence in that series.
And the aliens oh well I like them those really are the only turtle figures I buy these days are the other characters I could give a 2 craps less abou the turtles themselves...since I only need one set of turtles and I'm more than sure that money will be going to NECA!
Btw I'm more than sure these new figures where designed by Michael Dooney http://michaeldooney.com/
you can see his toy scetches here
http://michaeldooney.com/PAGES/frameset/toymain.htm
Many of them look to have bits and peices from these new characters so one can only asume plus Dooney has had a huge hand in the design of these toys for years.

I love these totally random villians. Now we get aliens... hey playmates, there was already a FF line where aliens may have fit better. Whatever the story is behind these new baddies, they do look kind of cool. If only we had some backstory

I didn't know this movie line was going to be as big as it is? I suppose, "Milk it for all it's worth."
Curious though, that they may incorporate new show villians with the movie line figures

Geez, what is the deal with the facial expression on that Raph? Looks like something bit him in the a$$, or he is doing his best impersonation of Mr. Ed flapping his gums.

I thought the look on basic Mikey was silly, well this one takes the cake.

Is it so hard to make a set of toys that have some bases in the fiction? No, it's not. This is pathetic even for Playmates. NECA's statue-toys (probably) already sound better than this...

These are really cool looking villains, but i don't like the turtles. They look creepy with the teeth and the feet oh u know what I'm saying. I still like the bad guys though, especially the green alien i hope these aliens are going to be like the generals or the monsters. Evil, smart, and are not copies of them. PS did you notice how much the purple guy looks like a Kanabo.

You know what's funny if you get the turtles i suggest you put the masks on the turtles and might as well glue them on for good since they look horrible. Except Donatello he actually looks like the best and i like him the most out of the four.

This means that there might actually be a sequel of TMNT. I hope there is cause i loved the first movie so much that i watched it like five times.

This just means the movie toys sold well, that doesn't mean much as far as getting a sequel.

Of course I'm holy! I'm practically a god! :p

I might get Buzzrok. He looks kind of cool.

I love some of the TMNT figure designs on Dooney's page. Badass Casey? Cody in some awesome armour? Godzilla turtle (not lame like Gameraph... actually looks cool)? Yes please!

And one's got to wonder if this Next Mutation design wasn't the precursor to Bishop: http://michaeldooney.com/PAGES/toy-pgs/fed.html

http://michaeldooney.com/PAGES/toy-pgs/saki.html This is cool... but kind of weird. A Shredder motorcycle? o.O

Why didn't this Savanti ever get made: http://michaeldooney.com/PAGES/toy-pgs/savanti.html ?

http://michaeldooney.com/PAGES/toy-pgs/darius.html Darius figure! Woo-hoo!

The turtles are pretty crappy, but I dig the aliens. Well, except for that orange one. The purple one's my favourite. Doubt i'll ever see them though, here in the UK finding a new TMNT toy is like gold dust. Well in Aberdeen it is! Seriously, my local Woolworths just got in the Fast Forward figures this week, just the turtles and Splinter. No new movie ones. We never even got Karai, Jersey Devil, etc. It sucks... I'd buy off the net but my funds are a bit tight the now, and I would much rather spend what I do have on original art, turtle style!
