I have a gut feeling he reads this place, I wish he's just come on here and talk to us. I mean if he's going to read it he might as well explain what's up. I bet people would respect him more if he spoke up for himself.

I mean really maybe there's a reason behind why he approved such a retarded show concept. Even if it's bad I'd atleast like to know.

Agree with the posted sentiments. Fun concept for a season opener or multi-parter, not an entire season (or more). Are we past the point where we can just get a normal TMNT show without some Power Rangers-esque subtitle? Or at least a concept that can last more than one season?

It also looks like the FF streamlined style is here to stay, but that's the least of this show's concerns right now.

Brainstorm....

How about a series where the turtles all have over exaggerated French accents, wear yarmulkes instead of masks, and fight the forces of darkness with paper bag puppets? We could call it TMNT The Banana Octopus Squadron. YEAH! And then April can be replaced by an Australian Sumo wrestler with a toaster for a head. His name is Mr. Armpitman.

And it can take place inside the mouth of a shark.

Boy. I bet if I scribble this is red crayon on a stained napkin and toss it on Peter's desk, he'll approve that one. If anything else it makes more sense than Overload did.

Heh, guess I wasn't too negative after all.

As much as I appreciate Playmates shooting down that horrid f**king idea, why does Playmates have to be part of all this? I mean, we've got some cool toys out of the new cartoon and the new movie, but next time Mirage signs some contract, why don't they just do it with 4Kids? Maybe I sound really naïve here, but it would be one fewer company putting its opinion into the TMNT solely for a profit. Why can't just 4Kids (and WB, I suppose) do that? Do we really need toys? (I love the action figures, I just think Playmates sucks. Except in this particular situation, where they overruled a really ridiculous idea. God how I don't want to hear any more grown men doing the voices of little kids.)

Maybe 4Kids and WB would come up with "kiddie" ideas, but at least it wouldn't be a blatant gimmick meant to sell toys. It would just be meant to sell the series.

I don't know what Peter Laird was thinking. I mean, Mirage Volume 4 has its flaws, but at least there were no mini Turtles. Maybe one or two episodes of the "Overload" idea would be fun. But the young Turtles get younger and more annoying every time (I liked them quite a lot more in "Tales of Leo" than in "Fathers and Sons.")

Okay, I don't have a point. I hope they come up with some good ideas. God I miss Eastman.

Ugh. I think it's time to throw in the towel, boys. We'll never -- ever -- be getting another quality TMNT show. Ever.

I'll admit it... I'll watch any TMNT cartoon they put on the air. It doesn't mean I'll like it. It just means I'll watch it because I'm thoroughly addicted.

But I am grateful that this got shot down. I could have stood, possibly even enjoyed, a single episode or even a 2-parter. I'm not against the turtle tots. But kee-rist! A whole season of that would have had my eyeballs glazing over and wishing they had used Drtooth's idea instead.

Let's just keep 2k3 continuity... bring them back home at last and focus on brand new stories with occasional nods to their comic book roots. What is so guldurned difficult about that?

We'll have to wait for the generation of idiots running things now (who by now are probably sick of TMNT and desperately want to kill it off) to die off or retire. TMNT will truly have to "die" as a franchise in my opinion before it really comes back. In the meantime, "With great power comes great responsibility..."

Soon there will be a string of gas stations, inexpensive motels, restaurants that serve rapidly prepared food! Tire salons, automobile dealerships and wonderful, wonderful billboards reaching as far as the eye can see! My God... It'll be beautiful.

Why is it that the turtles lost their irises and pupils as they got older? Did their eyes sink deeper into their skulls causing them to be overshadowed by their bandanas?

The concept itself doesn't bother me, but I have to reiterate what others have said in that I can't see it being the driving force behind an entire season.

I would like to explore the pre-teen turtles some more though. I can just imagine Raph picking on Don and Mike and with Leo being a little tattle-tale.

In defense of Peter Laird (not that he needs me to put in my 2 cents), Mr. M.'s post did say it was approved WITH some changes (that didn't appear in that pitch quote). So it could have probably worked (at least short-term).

What bugs me is NOT the fact that the toy company has so much say, as much as their "reasoning"-- once again they think kids=brain-dead.

Anyway, I'm with Jester on going back to the old 2K3 style.

I am forced to laugh at the horridness of this situation just because I cling to hope that eventually all of these royal mess-ups will force Mirage/Peter to see the light and fix everything that's broken. Which is everything.

^^ Nice

Didn't "they" say that the next season was going to similar to the movie? And the movie is very similar to 2k3... so I was hoping for the best.
