On the official site Dan just said Laird is putting together the next issue of Volume 4 and if you want to get into the letters section now is the time to write/e-mail a letter.

At least now we have a rough idea when to expect the next issue...online that is.

Well, at least there actually is some progress...I am NOT excited about it being online (and will definately try to get the hardcopies when available), but something is better than nothing...

I know a lot of people don't like the online idea, but in all honesty I think it's the best thing for everyone. A lot of people aren't happy with the way volume 4 was going, that's been made clear enough, at least with it being online, those people can check it out (assuming it's free) without cost and if they don't like it then it's not as though they've put any money into it. If it's not free then we know it would cost less because there would be no printing costs involved.

The other good thing about this is accessibility. I remember reading threads where people said their LCS had stopped stocking Turtles because of it's selling numbers, or stores that wouldn't stock them period. Those people won't really have to worry about that with it being online. The other thing I just realised is that say Pete got an issue out sooner than expected, we wouldn't be waiting for it to get printed, it'd be up online straight away, meaning we might get stories sooner than expected.

Yeah, as stupid as I think the online thing is, I really don't care that they're doing it. Volume 4 in comic shops embarrasses me as a fan, so no new Volume 4 in stores = fine with me.

Yeah, me two.

I hope it is free, cause mostly I've been buying the new series just to work on my Mirage collection. This way I won't have to spend money on something that I haven't been liking very much.

I'm actually just starting to catch up on vol. 4. What the hell was the deal with issue #22? F'n cockroaches???? "We lived as cockroaches, we even mated with some of the others". What. The. Hell. Probably the worst issue of TMNT I've EVER read. (in all fareness, I haven't read the Image series, I'm sure that would be equally as bad)

Nope, Image is far superior to Volume 4.

Agreed on issue #22... I have no nice words for it.

The following might be considered spoilerish for those who haven't read this series yet, but because of my disdain for vol. 4, I don't care if I'm spoiling anything for you. Your not missing much anyway.

What the hell was Peter thinking when he decided to reveal that April was the product of that magical pencil thing? That was worse than having Mikey do the nasty with the dinosaur princess. Dare I say, even worse than having the earth being populated by aliens. What next, we learn that the turtles weren't really turtles, they were banished pixies from a pocket dimension that took the form of turtles to escape from, you guessed it, dinosaur aliens, but after being in turtle form for so long, fogot that they were pixies.(If Peter's reading this, he's going "Damn, how'd he know?")

It made her ten times more interesting?

Even the ARCHIE April was superior to MIRAGE's version. I cant think of a single thing her bland ass really contributed to when Eastman and Laird were handling the ship together. She was lost in the shuffle. Making her an enigma rather part of the crowd elevated her importance to the story. Now she isnt just the Turtles first human freind that did JACK-SQUAT, she's part of their larger destiny.

Dont get me wrong, human characters are great, when handled properly, and such an April exists in the animated series and ARCHIE, but MIRAGE APRIL? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Oohhh nooo, THAT is where the anti-Laird fans love to overrate.

So leave Volume Four to the real fans*, and we will continue to enjoy and appreciate it. I might be labled an "apologist", but hell, when half the detractors act like babies, you're damn right, because I'm constantly having to apologise to Laird for THEIR behaviour.

*By "real fans", I mean the ones that enjoy it, not in a "if you dont like this, you're not a real fan" way

I totally agree with you in that Mirage April was really uninteresting and unimportant. I just thought that the direction Peter went in to make her interesting was silly. I would've preferred anything else, she was adopted, her parents were Nazi spies, hell, even if she was revealed to be a clone, I wouldn't have minded so much. But the fact that she's a f'n "doodle", really just made me shake my head.
I can't wait to find out that Casey's a cyborg from the future sent to kill Sarah Conner.

Issue #22 was very poetic, but if you don't get it now, then you never will so I won't bother trying to explain it to you. I've explained some of it before anyway. April would have been better off as a clone?! Please! Clones are so cliche in sci-fi these days. You at least have to give #22 credit for being more original than that.

Anyway, I loved it. Especially considering that it was the first issue without the turtles, I'd have to say it was a darn good issue.

But what are we talking about? This is a thread about volume 4 coming back! Why the heck are people complaining about it here? Go find your own thread or something you wicked, wicked, naysaying Shredder Jr.'s!

EDIT: You know, I recently watched Tin Man on Sci-fi, and it got me thinking... They could do a Tales story or even a non-canon story of a TMNT version of Wizard of Oz that takes place in Kirby's land. Kirby could be the wizard, the two April's could each be the wicked witch and Glinda (sp?), our April could be Dorothy, and the four turtles could be the lion, scarecrow, tin man, and Todo (not sure how they'd pull off Todo). Anyway, I thought it was funny. I'd get a real kick out of it if they told a story like that, just for fun.

I've been waiting forever for more TMNT in comic form. Tales is good, it's been sweetening the ride, but I'm glad Volume three is back in gear. Yeah, I call vol 4 Vol three. Deal with it. It is the third series from Mirage. the Archie and Image runs where seperate individuals. Therefore, Image comics to me, are Image vol one. Nuff said on that.
I will be trying to get the actual paper in my hands version as soon as I can. The on line comics will be ok. But I can see rabid fans buying and changing them, at least coloring them, on a regular basis.
I have no major issues with any of them. They are telling stories. Let those stories continue. Could they be better? Could they do something different? Yes. But are they horribly horrible? Utterly detestible? No. Not by far. if done correctly, anything TMNT could and would be excellent to read. I will not judge this until it's finished and I can read it from book to book, begining to end and see how it flows. Or dosen't.
Let's just see how it all comes together.
I will not give up on my TMNT.
I'll be there for the ride right up until Ultima Thule.

I'm not a big fan of V4 but I had been reading it and buying it when i can find it, but all I want to see is Raph be his normal self. Along with the April being a artificial person, Raph's issue is not really that great. Hasn't Raph had enough torture? Let him live in peace, have cool adventures and kick butt like he likes to.
I am dying to see if I'm right about Mikey being framed though!!!!

the whole April thing...that's just too weird. After ALL THESE YEARS????? She's suddenly a fake person!?!?!?

Having it online for me is great, I want to see what happens next...we lost the best comic shop over in Orange County, Mile High bailed...they had everything...

The internet is for fancomics, short panel things (like Penny Arcade, Megatokyo, et cetera), and crappy Paint-drawn monstrosities. Continuations of professional comics, even indie ones, belong in paper form and sat on bookshelves for purchase.

Not if the story/art is effing retarded. It embarassed me when I bought Volume 4 from stores ... any casual fan who picked it up would think something was terribly wrong. I much prefer the new Tales of the TMNT, which are usually better, being in the comic book stores. What's the big problem with Volume 4 being online? Won't Mirage lose less money that way?

@ trying to defend April's new origin. In no way, shape or form could I call that idea refreshing, impactful or interesting. It was just some random idea that had no reasoning behind it. This was Laird just doing dumb sci-fi moves without Eastman telling him how stupid of an idea it would be.

"True fans" don't have to appreciate every idea Laird puts out. "True fans" always have the time to check a TMNT issue, no matter how horrible it is, yet still maintain the dignity to keep whatever opinion they have for it. Most opinions were the "Secret Origin" idea was plain stupid and a waste of time, and just further contributed to the ridiculousness of Volume 4.

I still think this volume is a huge clusterf***, but as a TMNT fan, all I can do is hope things will get better.

April's origin is lame yes but having her be a drawing come to life is really no different than Wonder Woman's origin (a statue come to life). Do people think Wonder Woman's origin is lame? Nope...well..maybe in the beginning but we're all used to it now.

Comic book logic is never logical. Neither is comic book magic. All April's origin did really was give a background for Kirby's pencil. Altho we don't know where the stone originated from (just that April's dad got it at some auction). I'd like to know the origin of the crystal! Maybe there's something neat to that that brings more things together....like it belonged to an Utrom named Krang or something.
