I'm more upset that this means we'll be getting three issues of hideus Lawson art in a row. Ugh.

Is that what I'm supposed to be complaining about?

Being a comic fan is difficult.

..............

I'm gonna go cry in a corner.

It's not so much the story in itself that makes me sad, but that this gets printed and not that stuff Tristan wrote...

Now, to find a comfy corner..

That issue looks like fun, actually. I read issue 7 recently and it may be interesting to see a Super Turtles story.

Due to the in-house rule, I believe Lawson is penciling pretty much all of the issues this year, with at least one exception.

As much as I agree, don't forget that Tristan has confirmed he's writing Tales #50.

Speaking of which, I just saw the Leatherhead rough and almost cried.

Thanks for the sentiment too PAAATE, but don't judge this sorta stuff too far in advance!

Peace!

I just have a thing against super hero-turtles

No idea why I don't like the concept.. It's just something that.. Y'know, the whole super hero-thing just feels out of place in the TMNT universe if you ask me.

So, good thing this story takes place in an alternate universe.. Maybe I'll like it.. ;P

I just think I went back to square one in this post by saying "Maybe I'll like it".. Yay, circular thoughts that end nowhere O.o

I think the thing with Turtles was that it set itself as a fairly ground level comic at #1. There were no superheros until the teen issues and even after that, they weren't featured all that prominently.

Compare that to something Spiderman, which played it for superheros straight out the gate. Superheros work in that universe because they've been there the whole time.

It's kind of like how Batman and Gotham are often very separate from the rest of the DCU. They're both integral parts of that Universe, but Superman is a totally different comic to Batman. The Greater DCU is a scary thing to me, I know all the characters and how they fit in, but because I'm so used to it all being dark and dirty with Bats, seeing Superman flying around fighting god-knows what doesn't sit well with me because of what I'm used to.

My intro to DC was Miller's Batman, so I like the dark, groundlevel DC stuff. My intro Marvel was 70's Spidey, so they're two very different universes to be set up in. MY Turtles intro was the Triceratons, so I dig a lot of the sci-fi elements.

It's kinda like asking who someone's favourite Bond is and then going into the reasons why...

Well, I've been waiting for a Super Turtles since forever-- or rather, since a random question I asked Dan B. ended up going to P. Laird, where he supposedly answered he would not mind seeing the Super Turtles in a Tales book.

I enjoyed the episode on the show where they showed up-- and I enjoyed the all-too-brief appearance in the comic.

Super Turtles in TMNT Vol. 4 #7 was purposefully campy in it's narration and dialouge so I dug it as exactly that: campy for the sake of humor.

Now, if I'm supposed to be taking the Super Turtles seriously... I think it's gonna need a dose of Bruce Timm or something.

Good point Tristan. I still think you should option those shot down story ideas as TMNT novels. I'd buy em all.

I like the concept of the super turtles. The idea of alternate realities allow for them, and it was handled well in Vol. 4 AND in the cartoon. I have no doubt that it will be handled well in Tales also.
