Lionsgate: Pissin me off!

From Murphy's blog, not a bad post except this part:

1: DVD v.1 of the original cartoon is the most successful of the 9 DVD sets
2: leaning towards spreading out the release of Seasons 8, 9 and 10 as individual DVDs even though there are only 10 episodes per those seasons
3: v.7 to be released in December, 8 in April, the remainder TBD
4: licensee open to the "creative use" of non-season DVD releases to coincide with 25th anniversary shell-ebration

Point 1: I figured that, but had always wondered. I'd like to see how they all sold.

Point 2: S**T, that is going to take sooo fu**ing long, and it's not even 10 episodes a season, IT'S EIGHT!!!!

Point 3: DOUBLE S**T, that is eight mother ****in months... unbelievable. Seriously... what's the twisted logic behind this? Even from their POV they can't possibly imagine that people aren't gonna buy it becaue we just got a season 5-6 months ago... "Hey how about we wait one month for each episode the last season had".

The main reason that this pisses me off is that season 7 is so great! It didn't bother me one bit waiting for seasons 4-6. Personally I haven't been fully satisfied by one of these releases since season 3 wrapped up in DECEMBER 2006!

Point 4: Unless this is the Turtleoid episodes, who gives a ****?!?!?

With any luck one of those 2 extras will be the ones they left off earlier sets.

I'm just happy they seem to want to continue to release the rest of the series. My big fear was that Lionsgate was just going to stop at one point and not finish all of the seasons. I'm happy to see that's not the case.

I'm assuming the European episodes will be included on the Season 7 set, since there's no mention of them otherwise, but I do hope they finally realize they skipped two episodes.

I can understand why they'd want to release Season 8, 9, and 10 seperately. There's not many more episodes left and Lionsgate wants to make as much money off of the remaining episodes as possible.

I'm also fine with this stuff. Don't mind the seperate releases for the last 3 Seasons, even with the low amount of episodes.

The only thing that's "pissin' me off" as you put it is the same thing others are irritated with -- the skipping of "Once Upon a Time Machine" and the 2-Part "Planet of the Turtloids".

yeah it doesn't sound so bad its mostly good news. In reality none of Lionsgate efforts have been good.

Separating the last seasons is not good news but its nothing like S3 being in 4 volumes. And it does give us more chances for them to include the 3 missing episodes and maybe even turtle tips...

interviews and other extras would be great but I'd rather first get every episode or toy commercials.

We've been waiting so long already waiting more doesn't bother me as much..

I've washed my hands of Lionsgate. I'll get Season 6-10 after they release 'em all. I'll think about breaking the pattern for 7 & 8, but I expect those jerks don't care that they've skipped eps.

Odds are, we probably won't get those skipped episodes because they just don't care. I REALLY don't want to wait until December for season 7 though. Bah, such a long time.

this doesnt really bother me. i got season 6 the day it came out and i'm still working through it. plus we'll have at least one more release, maybe two of the 2k3 series between now and then and a new series will be starting. the individual releases dont bother me so much because on all the previous ot releases the price has been right. my guess is that if they do just release season 7 in december the missing episodes will be put on a set together after they finish season 10.

Wow, you guys seriously don't mind waiting 8 months? I mean it's not like season 6 was a 40 eper... it was only 16... I was through with it in about 2 weeks.

Nah dude, the we get Season 2 part 2 in September then we have to wait till January at the earliest for s3p1.

Good news tho: I forget where I heard this (but it was somewhere on the drome) but Germany is getting a full Red Sky (seasons 8-10) release in January 09, and it'll have an English option.

Ermmmm, no... They already have a full 'red sky' set (only in German). The set w/ an English audio option will be the first 25 (I think it was) eps that they are in the process of splicing together with their preexisting dubs of Great Brittain's 'Hero Turtles' edit. Sorry to burst your bubble, but it had to be done eventually. You didn't want to pay those shipping prices anyway, trust me.

But why would they do that?

For the same reason Funimation did that with DBZ. But, unlike that example, Germany has no Turtles 'toon DVDs except for those last 24 eps of the series. And, VHS is equally dead over there as it is here. So, German fans who don't understand English will be able to see the eps they only ever saw edited in their visually-unedited splendor. BTW, you know Germany's economy is richer than ours, yeah?

Yeah, also it would be kind of annoying to try and play PAL dvds. I could play it on my computer but I'd much rather watch it on my TV. Also, I would definitely not want the TMHT version. They butchered episodes to death. And, for german TMHT memories... http://www.geocities.com/taojam2000/Tmntger.swf

The DVDSet that will be release in January in Germany will contain the first 25 Episodes complettly Uncut (US Footage use) and will contain english and german Audio. The german audio is Cut (because it's from the cutted UK TMHT Version) for those seen which aren't available in german there will be the english audio with german subs.

Maybe there will be a Rerelease of the last 24 Episodes with english Audio, but only if the new Set is more successful than the one that was released one year ago!

So if there is someone from the UK and want some Turtles DVDs, you can get the New Set. (which will help to get more Turtles DVDs in Germany)

I still don't understand the logic behind that one, myself. I mean, come on. Add them in as a bonus feature or something.

I see the point of people wanting to have the entire final episodes collected, but I don't see what's so wrong about them splitting them up into single seasons. I think the wait is rediculous, but no more redeculous than the year long wait between v1 and v2.

But I agree, the only trhing that would have pissed me off would have been if they released a couple disks, then put the rest of the series in mothballs for no one to ever see them again. Frankly, they're pissing me off about still holding the rights to the first 13 episodes of Dragon Ball, so Funimation can never ever release the original series like they did with Dragon Ball z.

Has Lionsgate announced Season 7 yet???

Just curious, has anyone heard any rumors about season 7 yet from Lionsgate. I hope they will release a complete set with all the European episodes. I thought their Season 4 package was rather nice.

Reading is a useful technique. ^_^ Give it a try sometime.

Mostly stuff with Mikey's chucks was cut but there were other small things like Rex-1 breaking Donny's bo in half in New York's Shiniest that were cut. I haven't seen too many UK versions of the episodes though.

Why are they such whimps? There is nothing badass about breaking a stick.
