Most of the time their pointless scenes that make the movie drag on or their just extra fighting or gore that wasn't in the normal release. Their almost never better. Some directors get mad like Ridely Scott did when they re-released "Alien" with footage he didn't think needed to be in the film.

ooo thanks for clarifying that, all i knew that a directors cut had some added coolness

I would certainly "upgrade" to a special edition of the first TMNT movie. I'd love to see this happen.

You won't have to wait too long for that. Providing that is one of the things I have planned.

You have a plan of putting the scripts on the DVD? I was unaware you had any pull but that's cool. Assuming you have copies of the scripts and the Mirage guys know how to get a hold of you they'd have no reason not to.

Well, no, I won't be putting the script on any DVD (I really don't think a DVD is a good place for a large chunk of text like that anyways). But I will be posting the full text of the script for the deleted scenes to the Interwebs in the near future.

If all goes well, I'll have the first one up this weekend.

There were deleted scenes in the script?

Can you give us a basic summary of details?

All of the deleted scenes are pretty well documented in all of the movie materials - comics and books and everything. I believe tmntmoviesite.com has a good summary of all of them, but if I spent time writing that up it'd take away from time I could be spending typing the actual script (and scanning pictures).

Well, didn't feel right using the form letter, sent this out instead:

To Warner Brothers Home Video:

In 2009 the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise will celebrate it's 25th anniversary. During the that time, one of the franchise high points in both commercial and critical success was teh first live action film, which was produced by New Line Cinema. It is the hope of die-hard TMNT fans of all ages, to say nothing of film buffs and the public in general that Warner Brothers/New Line Cinema uses this celebration as an opportunity to release the strangely absent "Special Edition" of that film on DVD.

Steve Barron, director of the film, has made clear both his interest in being personally involved in such a DVD project and has stated he is willing to provide supplemental material for such a release, including deleted scenes and original artwork. in addition, many other frequent requests and suggestions such as remastered video and sound, commentary tracks, theatrical trailers, and making of documentaries, are standard releases on most films that were even a fraction the commercial success of the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

When it was released, the first Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film achieved the highest independent film gross in history, a record it would hold for over nine years, and both it's special effects and cinematic construction received rave reviews. Indeed, at $135 million dollars domestically (over $201 worldwide), the first film was a blockbuster for it's time. This film led to both New line being taken seriously and two sequels, both of which made further money and pushed special effects even more to the limit.

This film warrants a Special edition release both for it's commercial appeal as well as for the creative merit of the film.

Sincerely,

Joshua

One of The Turtle Faithful

That's a very professional and convincing letter, turkishproverb. It's short, to the point, and didn't go overboard with any criticism to WB that might piss them off. "Strangely absent" was a good euphemism for "WB, You've been stupid for not proceeding with the Special Edition Release of my favorite film. DO IT, DAMMIT!"

The letter does need some grammatical revisions, however. I hope you realize that.

That'd be pretty hard for WB to do. My favorite film is "Rashomon"

Nice banner. When Casey Jones demands something, it's serious business!
