Leo and Raph's fighting

Am I the only one who sort of misses how Raph and Leo used to lock horns and argue and have moments where their oppinions on how to do something clashed causing friction between them? I was watching some episode from earlier seasons lately I was reminded on how they used to clash, particularly during City At War when they both had strong feelings on the matter. It added alot of cool tension to the show.

Now they both seem pretty mellow with each other and they hardly argue, and even though thats good I miss how they used to clash.

Nope. I do not really miss it. All 4 brothers have matured and that is a good thing.

Well, we must admit that the Raph-Leo fight rooftop scene is the one of the highlights of the CGI movie.

to be honest I really don't miss it and am glad they Leo and Raph's relationship has gotten passed that. Yeah it was interesting at the time but sometimes I felt like it took up to much time and energy on those two being at each others throats that could have gone in developing other things. Their arguments where becoming redundent and annoying by the time the writers decided to have them become friendly, which was good.

Aren't we talking about the 4KIDs series here, not the CGI Movie?

i liked the scenes because, as every boy with a brother knows, your gonna argue and/or fight once in a while. heck, i gotta brother and we fight all the time. but then we get over it, like leo and raph. yeah, smile_seta, that fight is one of the highlights of the movie.

Yup. Just had to mention that. That's my second favorite scene in the CGI movie, you know. First one is Mikey's "awesomeness" on the board.

Hmm. While I'm always glad when fighting is stopped and maturity takes over, Raph and Leo always had that... thing.

It was like they were both so passionate about the same thing (but with different opinions) that they butted heads. I'm not sure if it's the fighting that people miss, as much as it is the intense passion that flowed forth from it.

I miss it like shell! the animosity between those two is one of my favorite aspects of the tmnt be it on the cartoon, movies, or in the comic. a fight between Leo & Raph is worth a hundred fights against Shredder in my book!

maybe It's because I never had a brother to fight with...

oh yes, that's it! Thats what I'm talking about. I miss the passion they both used to distribute of having strong opinions and clashing over them on who was right. Now Leo and Raph don't have that and their so gosh darn friendly now. Now all the fighting and animosity Raphael shows any more are toward Mikey.

to be honest I don't miss it. I'm glad that the tension between Raph and leo has subsided and they've come to some common ground. Both leo and espcially Raph have done alot of growing and maturing over the seasons so it would be step back to revisit the whole butting heads and petty fighting and arguments between those two.

yeah but you have to admit that with out the Leo+Raph tension alot of the "omph" in the turtles dynamic that made them interesting is gone. The Leo+Raph fighting breathed life into the turtles.

no it didn't, all it did was take away time that could have been better spent on exploring other facets of the turtles relationship with each other.

Yeah, I kinda miss the fighting if only because it provided some of the best episodes in the series. The maturing was nice I agree. But then what do you replace that with? We need to see the next step in their relationship with more character development for all of them. Hopefully being without Splinter this season, we'll see them all grow up some more.

I only miss the fighting a little bit, I mean, It was exciting to see Raph and Leo lock horns every now and again, but I'm glad their getting along.

Couldn't agree more. Making Leo and Raph fight is a cop-out if you don't want to add real dynamics and subtleties into the characters.

And, quite frankly, it's been done in so many versions that I'm just sick of it. Raph is hot-headed and Leo is responsible. We get it. Hammer, meet nail.

and what, they should focus on Don and Mikey more? This is probably going to get me in trouble but...Don and Mikey are not intersting. They are pretty straight forward characters, Mikey is a joker, Don is a smart. Mikey annoys his brothers and Don helps his brothers. Whats more to go into? Leo and Raph just have more facets to them and depth their their characters and their relationship than Don and Mikey.

Maybe thats why they should focus on them more, just because that's how they normally act doesn't mean they don't have other feelings that they just hide. It can't be easy for Mikey to continually get hit, and his brothers never take him seriously enough so he has to get attention the only way he knows how. Both Don and Mikey try to keep the peace whenever someone in their family blows their top. Surely that has to weigh on them.

oh no, I'm going too far into this aren't I? I really need to get out more..

That's because there's a history of lazy writing behind the cartoon versions of Mike and Don. No character is one note, and if I was producing a show and any of my writers told me, "I can't focus on this main character. He's not interesting," I'd fire him for not doing his job.

I've read comics that show Mikey being sensitive, distraught, and creative. I've seen Donatello be condescending, lonesome, reflective, and host an entire range of personalities that could bring great and subtle dynamics to the team. But it's always easy to write them off as the jokester and the smart one and consentrate on a Leo and Raph fight because that's tried and true.

There's 4 brothers with distinct personalities. They should give equal attention to each of them and each possible pairing. That's the point. Mikey and Don are just as interesting as Raph and Leo.
