Heroes In A Hardcover

Scooped this from Lying in the Gutters 12 -15 - 2008:

Next year is the twenty-fifth anniversary of the first “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" series. The original first eleven issues and individual character solo one shots, long out of print, are being collected in hardcover for May publication from Mirage.

This will be accompanied by an Official Handbook To The Mirage Universe style book, profiling Turtle and spinoff characters in all their various forms.

The “Forever War" story from the Archie "TMNT Adventures" comics will be published and completed, written by Steve Murphy who wrote the originals under the pseudonym of Dean Clarrain, with art by Chris Allan.

A Donatello mini-series to close out the yearly individual Tales series is entitled "Brain Thief."

Archie Comics will also reprint the original three-issue mini-series from Michael Dooney in their manga trade size with all new colouring.

Happy Holidays, y'all .

Is this the Peter Laird's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Special Edition TPB?
The other stuff sounds pretty awesome though (aside from the Archie miniseries).

Hardcover repriting and manga-size Archie trades sound nice (presuming they continue with the Archie series).

Now get to work on reprinting City at War, Volume 2, and Volume 4 in trades. They need to be collected ASAP.

2009 is most definitely going to be an expensive year for me.

They also need a "Prelude to City at war" trade with the stories preceding it like shades of gray that are still in continuity but less of a priority. Still, CAW comes first.

Not necessarily. I heard a whisper that Peter has *gasp* actually made communication attempts with Dave Sim.

From what I've heard, neither of these are in the works.

Last I heard, this re-print of the first TPB has to sell well before even considering a CAW TPB.

It'd be guaranteed to sell well if it were in bookstores, but that would just be too hard. But from what I know CAW isn't even on Mirage's radar at this point, no matter the sales for the hardcover.

I'd love to be wrong, though!

I don't think it's a hardcover either, at least I haven't heard it called a hardcover at any point. I'm pretty sure it's a straight tpb, but still, it's coming. Cool to see it making headlines at least.

I'd been told the same thing as Rose mentioned (re: Dave Sim) a few times. So it is a very strong possibility.

It's not the Special Edition either gobo, this is a straight classic reprint. At least according to Dan.

As Rose said, CAW isn't on the radar yet. If things go well next year, then there's a possibility.

Every year is expensive for me, but I'll have to agree with you here. 2009 is going to break my bank. Maybe I should finally respond to one of those credit card offers I'm always getting and REALLY go for it.

I'm talking debt of EPIC proportions here.

Yeah. I was in Books-A-Million today in the comic section saying to myself, "The TUrtles would sell so well if their TPBs were here. The comic would really get the respect it deserves."

Hopefully someday someone'll finally get around to making that happen.

In the meantime, I'm hoping that the new Wii game will give the Turtles at least a good console reputation again.

I was really hoping that the Handbook would be out in time for Christmas but ah well... Nice to know that the Handbook will be for ALL the various TMNT Universes tho! I mean yeah I have the TMNT Adventures Handbook already but it's nice to get all that info in one book.

As for that Don mini. Nice to finally get the name of it.

Great news.

Liking the Handbook. Forever War, and Archie Trade. See how the Don mini-series goes.

As for continuing Archie, Cipher. I also hope so. The Sonic Trades started out the same way (doing the beginning mini-series, and then a little later the series), so could be that the series will follow for TMNT too.

They don't?! That seems rather strange (they wouldn't have it). With apparently having the mini-series (at the least in a manner to do a new styling of it).

They don't have them because people like ME do.

No, they no longer have them because Mirage told them to throw them away. Whatever proofs you have are different from what Archie threw away.

The reason it's going to have new coloring is because the old coloring was thrown away.
