A public 'I'm sorry' for 'the post'

I want to say I am sorry. I made a mistake in posting what I did. What I said was intended to be more of a joking, ribbing thing that completely and totally didn't come across after it was read. I was thinking I would liven things up with a 'critique' of his critical view style of the figures and I took it way too far. Like I came off like a total dick about it. I thought it would make people do more custom figures or something. Like it totally came off the wrong way. It was so over the top I thought it wouldn't be taken seriously. It wasn't meant to be my last post, but I don't feel comfortable sticking around now.

I saw the results of my post and I wanted to clear it up. I don't work for playmates. I wish I did. I am just started college. I am a fanboy who said something stupid on a message board, offending the regulars, without having anyone there know that wasn't me and I wasn't trying to be hurtful. Like it was so over the top. I am so sorry it was taken as it was.

Then I saw people emailing playmates and stuff. I don't want to cause someone who makes turtles stuff get in trouble for something I said because it wasn't meant like that. It was like a "what would they say" thing.

I am sorry Vaughn. I am sorry everyone else. Turtles in '09 is great. Don't let me screw it up by being stupid. The turtles are awesome and I feel like a complete tool. I am so sorry x 10000

Everyone here was is cool and I wanted to say I was sorry for everything.

As someone who grabbed the bull by the horns in this situation, I think I can say, on behalf of Vaughn and the rest of us, apology accepted.

If the rest of you would like to comment, please do so politely. DA obviously is already eating humble pie over this. I am sure he doesn't need anyone kicking him in the ribs, nor do we need another locked thread. Thank you in advance for acting responsibly and maturely everyone.

EDIT: I know a number of you (because I am getting PMs about it ) think he is just trying to save his job...but here is the thing gang...Either way, he has obviously learned his lesson, and I doubt very much that he will be doing that again. So please, take the small victory, and be happy with that.

I just saw this^. Sorry bout the locked thread. My mouth (or in this case my fingers) tends to get me in trouble lol. I was trying to provoke that Nick person into a tangent so that I would get a yellow name because I was told that I needed to deserve it but then I read my IM's and found out that the colored names are going away anyway so it didn't matter. I honestly could care less about this trival matter at this point.
Your post comes off as totall bullsh1t to me though I will say that.
I really don't feel as if your being sincere and just doing this because you have to.
I do find it funny that you went on and on about the place I work at and my life and pretended to know anything about me or the work I've done when you now claim it all to be just some joke.
Mirage and Playmates both have been contacted so let's hope for your sake you don't work for playmates.
Anyway I want to move forward from this so it's the last thing I'm going to say on the matter as I have more important things to be doing with my time.

As a well seasoned veteran of many flame wars from both the TMNT and the Transformer forums, I don't let what people say on the message boards get to me. Why? Because I pick what affects me and what does not.

However, Don's Assistant, your prank, as you stated, went too far. Your post came off as a reading as someone who is an insider. You stated that Vaughn Michael's name is a joke where you work - an indication or suggestion that you, my friend, are indeed inside the business world. It's not a way to provoke a joke but more as a way to antagonize. An apology is accepted but you have to see things from our eyes - you told us you were a legit insider who knew all the information. And now you tell us that was all artificial. It's hard to see whether an apology is real or not when you built up this identity that suggests we cannot trust you. Your actions, so to speak, will be judged accordingly and fairly until we know who you are.

I'm willing to believe you are sincere in apologizing - but your personal attacks on VaughnMichael's employment and opinions were and still are.... too far to retract with an apology. Like Vaughn, I too worked for retail - I worked at Target for 4 years while in college. I stocked the shelves of the toy departments. Then I went into IT. And now I work for Apple (retail branch) working on repairing and building computers and software.

A jest in your eyes was a violation of the forums we've grown to love and nurture. As you can see, collectively we went to protect Vaughn from your snipe attacks on him. Even the people who disagree with every other line he says went there. Why? Because we are a community. We welcome in newcomers but we ask that you keep the sharp tongues in check. It's a courtesy.

This one will be my last posting. Before I hang my head in shame and make a final exit, I would like to say a few things.

To be honest, I saw Vaughn as a top guy here who had I didn't imagine that things would have gone the way they did with my post. I was trying to do something like when they roast guys in hollywood. A tongue in cheek critical send up of the top guy as a response to his critical reviews of toys. But it blew up in my face and no one saw it the way I saw it in my head. Clearly, I am in error.

I'd like to admit I was wrong in what I did, wish the best to all who are here, and say again that it was so over the top and in such a way that I was sure it wouldn't have been taken as it was. As someone above said, some smiley icons would have helped in that. Hindsight is 20/20 though, so not posting it at all would have been far better.

As I just said in a personal message to Vaughn, he has connections. He makes great custom figures. I know people have come back here and posted responses in this thread questioning things further after I started this thread. I understand where you're coming from. My post sent this board into an uproar. I can only say I made a terrible mistake and wrote things that came off differently than I intended. For that who say "how could you have not known it would come off so bad", I can only say again that I am sorry and made a complete mistake in judgment based on how I thought something so over the top would be taken. Is that a good excuse? No, probably not. Unfortunately, its the one I have. I mean, if I had a better thought process to justify it, we probably wouldn't be where we are at this point because it wouldn't have been posted. Its not that I am forced to say I am sorry-at least by anything other than my conscience. I am not attempting to justify it or further flame up the board with a series of hateful comments. Yes, its too little, too late. It is however sincere.

I don't want to try to redeem myself beyond what I have said in this post. I will make an exit from the board. There is only one guy who I really would like to have understand and perhaps forgive me at some point. I don't know if he will, but I want to say again, so anyone who reads will see, I screwed up and I am sorry. I don't work for playmates. I am not in "the business". I am a fan who is excited about the new turtles toys in stores. I am a fan who make a terrible mistake in posting hurtful comments about a far more die hard fan than me on the internet. Regardless of original intent, the end results can't be changed now.

Ninja Turtles cartoons have lessons designed for little kids to learn-to make them better people. I think it is time for me to go back and re-watch some of those episodes. I have indeed learned a lesson from this experience and I hope my words in this thread can begin to eliminate the sting from the other. I ask that you let this thread die, perhaps lock/close it up. Forget about an ignorant poster called 'donsassistant'. I won't come poking around getting into any more trouble.

Wheter it's sincere or not...i don't have a sincerity-o-meter, i just felt Vaughn deserved an apologize at the very least after that rant, it's hard to believe that post was meant as a joke, it came off as vicious flaming...the internet can make it hard to convey sarcasm or can lead to misunderstandings, but i don't think that extends to your post, those were some spiteful words regardless of the tone you may read it in

it's not the kind of comments you want total strangers to fling at each other in a forum like this one, i don't see how it could end up in anything other than a flamewar or a ban.
In the end tho it's all good that you apologized to Vaughn, if you really did it honestly that is cool, you could have just not ever came back, if you wanted to keep posting tho, i'm not going to lynch you or anything...no hard feelings....i jumped into conclusions into thinking you were a playmates employee but it was hard to read it any other way (again, internet :q no one can know for sure ) on the plus side if you really don't work for playmates you don't have anything to worry about now

i'd hope playmates will not just fire some poor innocent shmuck just because of an internet post with no proof whatsoever.

why is everyone hating on playmates? i always thought they were a great toy company. they made my favorite ninja turtles toys over the years. i never take anything personally or seriously when being attacked online, it's actually kinda funny to me. but ive never had that problem on this website, people are actually cool here, i guess since we're all tmnt fans we can get along. but on some other forums like imdb.com is nothing but internet flame wars, cussing, arguing etc. disagreement about movies will put people at war on that site.
