I'm not saying that I won't like the cross over, but I definitely feel like a DTV should be used on something.... cooler?

And I also think they should get the original voice cast or get out.

There was supposed to be a Direct translation of the first comic, Volume 1 Issue 1, but sadly, it was canned for whatever reason. Peter posted it on his blog a while back....if memory serves

Keep in mind, Vaugh, most people never got the chance to see them, hence why they where 'lost' episodes on Season 1 DVD. Those of us in the big three markets, Los Angeles, New York, etc, where lucky that we got to see the show all the way through and not have to put up with sports or news...

I lived in Illinois during the 90's and I remember almost every episode of Red Sky.

Boy you sure missed the point.

I grew up in Pittsburgh,pa and I taped every episode the day it aired on tv.
The reason allot of people never saw them is because they didn't bother to watch at that point it would seem. Or they moved on to other shows by that point like Power Rangers.

True, I forgot Power Rangers was becoming big at that time...Hard to believe that things lasted so long....

But I was referring to the fact that smaller markets where also switching to all news broadcasts or sports or infomercials around this time .

I made it through season 9 before losing the New Orleans CBS. After "BEGINNING OF THE END", I took a 10-day tour of Europe (France & Italy trip sponsored by my school), then found the Baton Rouge CBS had dropped TMNT in favor of sports. However, New Orleans still aired the show. It's not like I was missing anything significant (like the final three-part appearance of Shredder & Krang), right?

I get the point, but still... people remember the slapstick pizza-tossing cowabunga turtles over the slightly more serious red sky turtles. Most casual fans don't even know red sky existed. And more people remember Shredder bickering with Krang and insulting Bebop and Rocksteady than blowing up the Channel 6 building.

That doesn't matter, the old toon Turtles can still fight just as well as the new toon ones.

Have you forgotten what they were like in Season 1? Or Seasons 7-10?

And Shredder/Krang in the old toon were serious world-threatening villains when they weren't being played for comedy, they could give the 2k3 Turtles a run for their money. I also imagine Bebop/Rocksteady would be slightly stronger and harder to take down if they were ever to appear again.

I'd love to see the original Toon Shredder compete in the Shredder Wars. Complete with James Avery's voice.

It wouldn't even have to be Red Sky Turtles, though. It could just as easily be first season asskicking Turtles!

I haven't posted very much since I joined but I found this topic to be particularily interesting so I thought I would put in my two cents. Now, as to whether it comes to pass or not, well, I shall sit back and see.

Now, as to the Old Toon meeting the New Toon, I think alot of fanfictions have been done on it simply for the reason that it catches people's interest and attention. Personally, I'm a big fan of crossovers, IF they're done well, regardless of the two (or more) being mixed.

I think this could potentially be a disaster or potentially be very interesting and entertaining. I have to say I agree that the original voice actors should be brought back. Not because no one else can do it but because people associate those voices with those Old Toon characters. If you suddenly change such a large part of the characters that people remember, generally people don't react very well to it. Could it be done with different voice actors? Absolutely but I don't think it would be a very smart marketing move.

Now, as to the two universes meshing together...well, that's a little tricker. Yes, the 80s toon was very campy but I wouldn't jump to the conclusion that the 80s Turtles aren't as skilled as their 2000 counterparts. I would be more inclined to say that the situations/fights allowable in the old toon pretty much limited what you could do with them. In the Red Sky episodes, the show did get considerably darker. If you were going to throw the 80s turtles against the new toon villains, I think they could handle themselves but probably not as effectively (at least at first) as their new counterparts because it is not the kind of fight that they're used to.

Likewise, I would be wary of one that pitied the turtles against one another because in almost every single crossover I've seen where this occurs, it turns into a "this show is better than that one because..." scenario. I personally would be more interested in one where they have to work side by side or at the very least tolerate one another.

I find both shows enjoyable because I see something about each set of characters that I like and that I think the other show could use a little more of. Like, let's compare the two:

OT Leo/NT Leo: OT Leo is not as good a leader as NT Leo and not nearly as skilled but he knows how to relax more and not become as obsessive with things. NT Leo can become overwhelmed easily and seems to have a more honor-strict personality which can be both good and bad. OT Leo could teach his counterpart how to lighten up, which NT Leo could teach how to use the skills they know to learn more and how to plan and organize better. OT Leo seemed to be more "buddy-buddy" with his brothers, while NT Leo is definitely the protective Older Brother...again, in both cases, it could be good or bad, depending.

OT Don/NT Don: OT Don is pretty smart but he also tends to be a little vain at times concerning his intelligence. He also tends to be the strategist in that group and come up with lots of battle plans/infiltration ideas. However, to me, he always seemed to be kind of the loner for this reason and not really have a close link with anyone. NT Don is also very intelligent, probably even more so than OT Don but he seems to have a pretty close link to his siblings and knows better what works and seems to invent things that are more useful. Those two working together would be an interesting mix. OT Don is more independent but NT Don is more socially adept.

OT Raph/NT Raph: OT Raph is sarcastic and shown as being more grumpy than being out of control anger-wise. He and Mikey are still usually shown together but without the slapping upside the head that NT Raph does. Now, skill wise, NT Raph is stronger, faster and more skilled. OT Raph however, seems to think more before rushing into a situation, something NT Raph's anger seems to make very hard for him. However, their personalities are pretty different so NT Raph would probably want to knock OT Raph into next year. OT Raph has a better relationship with Leonardo because he doesn;t crave leadership. NT Raph has a more protective personality...though you do see OT Raph cry at least once when he thinks Mikey's dead so it seems those two always have some kind of link.

OT Mikey/NT Mikey: Now, these two I find the closest in personality. OT Mikey is a little more independent in that, he'll stand up for himself more than NT Mikey will, telling his brothers to stop it or butt out, etc. NT Mikey has shown more interests than eating which is something OT Mikey could stand to learn. Both Mikeys think outside the box and both of them are quick, adaptable. They both are shown to be sensitive (OT Mikey with animals and NT Mikey with animals and kids) and fond of being in the center of attention. Put these two together and my guess is that you'd have a team that could drive everyone completely insane...

Okay, that was NOT meant to be so long...but overall, I think my points are that I think mixing the two could work if they were in a situation where they had to work together WITH each other and not AGAINST each other because both sides could teach the other something..

I don't think these two statements have anything to do with each other.

Er, I don't think the idea is to bring back your or anyone else's childhood. That's not Fox's job, and that's pretty silly to expect.

I'm told they can't. It's a union thing.

Didn't Shredder's old toon voice original try out for the 2k3 Shredder but he was turned down?

In any case, if the old voices don't reprise their roles, I will have nothing to do with this and pretend it doesn't exist.

if they do have some kind of cross over than I would like the OT turtles to have aged in normal time rather than still be teenagers. I mean the first turtles show ended in 1996, it's 2009 now. That was thirteen years ago it's gonna be stupid if their still teenagers while acting and talking like it's still the mid 90's.

That would kind of be like that one Extreme Ghostbusters episode where the old Ghostbusters meet the new ones.

But then, in a cartoon world like old TMNT, no one ever ages..the Turtles are always 15 throughout the ten-year run of the show, April is always 28, nobody aged from 1987-1996, why would they now?

Any news on this DTV? Didn't T4K say NYCC would have something about it?
