i'm sure everyone has seen the giant bootleg splinter at some point. here is a "mini" giant bootleg splinter i say that cause the packaging looks to be the same as that of the giant bootleg splinter. anyone know anything about this?

Anybody need eighteen Foot Soldiers?

I'd try to get in on this, but the shipping is ridiculous.

Still a bit much. I paid $30-some shipping on a set of 60 figures, 22 of which were carded. Of course, I don't recall how far it was shipped from, but still.

Well since the average price of a figure is 7 bucks if you bought all those it would be almost 130 bucks so either way it's a deal.

If that $9.99 was a BiN, then of course it would. But what're the odds it'll be $9.99 in a week when it's over? Meh. Like I said, I encourage others to jump on it... besides that, I'm a wee more interested in nabbin' classic Foot Soldiers... just a wee bit.

That would cost more to do, since I'd have to fly to and from Tennessee. Not to mention taking the cargo back with me @.@

Wait, what's the shipping showing for you guys on that Foot Soldier auction? It's saying $22 for me... which is a really good deal. I have an 18" figure that probably takes up less space than those, and I think I calculated that it would cost almost $40 to ship via priority mail!

Anyway, those are carded, but I come bearing a reminder, my lovelies:

When buying loose figures, ALWAYS make sure that they come from a smoke-free home. (Not that that would have helped in this case, since the seller insists that no one in her home smokes, but still.) This Shredder smells like tar and diseased lungs and I don't know how to make him stop.

Have you tried washing it? I bought a giant Leonardo figure from a local charity shop dirt cheap in good condition, but it reeked of smoke. I took it in the shower and washed it with a flannel and shower gel, then dried it with a clean towel and it now it's fine.

Of course I tried washing it -- that was my first attempt. After that failed, I left it in a bag with baking soda for a few days... which just left me with a stinky toy and stinky baking soda. Then I washed it again (scrubbed it with a toothbrush and everything). All of those failed, so now Shredder's in a zipper baggie with a whole mess of kitty litter. I'll pull him out in a week or so and then we'll go from there...

So remember, kids, get your toys from smoke-free homes!

Try leaving him outside for a few days. Even with the smell deterrents you're still trapping him in a small plastic bag with the stench.

I think the bag aspect is in keeping with the principle of the method. Presumably, the figure stinks because the smell has seeped into the plastic, so theoretically placing the figure in close proximity with some other odor-absorbing substance should pull the stench out of the plastic and into it. The closed bag is supposed to isolate this process, ensuring that the substance can focus on pulling stink out of the toy and not also absorb surrounding smells. Or at least I think that's the rationale behind it!

In any case, the suggestion is appreciated, Rose -- if the kitty litter fails to do the trick, Shredder will definitely spend a few days on my windowsill. The seller did refund my money (55-cent auction, but still) and half of the shipping fee, so at least it only cost me two bucks... and I might just learn something.
