Unstable Mutations In Other Mutants.

So we all know that in the Red Sky seasons of the OT the guys suffered from "Hulk outs" caused by their unstable mutations. That got me thinking, there are other mutants in the OT universe, could they have suffered from super mutations too? Could Mondo Gecko, the Punk Frogs, Leatherhead, Mona Lisa, and even Bebop and Rocksteady had to have dealt with their own unstable mutations?

Then I though of Splinter's mutation not going wonky and wondered why that was. Could a Mammal-to-Mammal mutation be more stable than a Mammal-to-Reptile mutation? Could it be that Splinter started as a human and was mutated into a lower life form, but the Turtles started as turtles and up-mutated to humanoids? Could this explanation work with the characters mentioned earlier?

Thoughts, or am I just crazy?

Well there is that one episode later on where Shredder shoots a ray gun at Napoleon which causes him to transform into a stronger frog.

But yeah, they never did fully explain what long-term affects of the mutagen were in the old toon. It was obviously permanent, but do they change again later on? Splinter was mutated for years though and never changed.

I always gathered the gamera Raph in Vol. 4 and mutated Don in the 2k3 series Season 4 were pretty much the same thing. (I know the cause is different, vampires and Bishop's formula, but you get what I mean).

It had an effect on their mutations.

mutation

if Splinter mutation was unstable maybe he could turn back to human. Then he could go out on date with he love of his life. But this may turn out like shrek. But does his love of his life still life? The unstable mutation may cause that he has this urge to eat cheese (his favourite food is shusi?) or alter his brain activity to act like a rat. What abilities did he gain from mutating except for getting through a lot of stuff?

splinter did demutate in a episode (by "unormal" cause) but the effect wore off and he said he preferred being a rat again, perhaps mutated humans in the OT becomes more animal like in their mind as well as a part of the unstable mutation...

The mutagen was old and unstable. Bebop and Rocksteady never de-mutated. Splinter said he prefered to be an animal because how humans threat each other. "Splinter No More" is a deep, philosophic episode about humanity, and also deals with racism.

Yes in "Plan 6 from Outer Space" we see Krang give Bebop/Rocksteady holograms of their human selves, but they didn't de-mutate.

Maybe Splinter used his "ninja mind powers" to keep his mutation under control

But seriously, I think the writers didn't care or something. He wasn't a really active character so maybe not going out and fighting all the time didn't stress his mutation too much. I'd guess human to animal mutations are more stable than animal to humanoid ones would be their excuse...

You know.... it would have only have given 5 seconds to explain that had they taken the time to do it in the OT

Leo- well, how come Bebop and Rocksteady don't mutate? Or Master Splinter?
Don- Well, it might have something to do with their mutations. Remember, they were all once human, but we used to be pet turtles.
Splinter- that could be right, Donatello.

Buuuut it still opens the door for Slash, Groundchuck, Dirtbag, the Frogs and Mondo Gecko....

Exactly....but they were all for gotten in Red Sky, heck the only mutants in Red Sky are the Turtle, Splinter, Carter and I guess in the 1st season Bebop and Rockstaedy, only severely wimpified.

It's the "mutagen shooter" in season 5's "Napoleon Bonafrog: Colossus of the Swamps" (1991).
