I just watched Blast From The Past in season 3 again, and in it Shredder asks the Foot founder, Shibano Sama, to train Bebop and Rocksteady to be master ninjas. However, later we see them travel back in time, meet Splinter and Saki's ancestors, and through their actions, create the Foot.

My question is, which one is right or has there been a theory put forth to unite them?

These could both be true if time travel is involved. In Blast From the Past, Splinter said Shibano Sama was the founder of the foot clan, yet in The Legend of Koji, he said his ancestor Hamato Koji founded the foot clan. Shredder, Splinter and the turtles seemed to have changed a lot about the past as they went there during the Legend of Koji. If they didn't time travel and just left the past the way it is, Shibano Sama probably would have been the foot clan founder instead of Hamato Koji.

Apparently Shibano Sama was referenced in The Legend of Koji and was the one from whom Koji took over leadership of the clan, naming it the Foot. Also, the "Kashima sword," likely belonged to the brothers whose holograms were used in the "My Brother, The Bad Guy" from season 5.

I got those answers from this thread:
http://forums.thetechnodrome.com/showthread.php?t=17092

I'll have to watch this episode again sometime to pay more attention.

No, those were the Kojima brothers.

I re-watched the episode, and it turns out Koji was looking for the shrine of Shibano Sama... which gave him "the power to start his own clan". So they both deserve credit as founders of The Foot.

Also, I think it's interesting that Shredders great great great great Grandpa was a Latino man

Yeah, that's cool how it seals up the continuity on the Hamato Yoshi family tree while still allowing for an external influence (Shibano Sama) who must have taught Koji the "Cur-lee Maneuver."

Shredder's ancestor was a wimp, even he had to admit. Classic!
