TMNT: Double Damage

TMNT: Double Damage!
http://static2.cdn.ubi.com/ncsa/TMNT...game/main.html

A little late, but I thought Ubisoft's new flash game deserved its own thread. I like it, although I have found the hit detection iffy and everytime I've played it I've suffered from occasion lag time that usually ends up in me taking major damage.

Any way, I thought I'd share some screencaps of all the cut-scenes if anyone is interested:

Cut Scene 1: April taken captive! Spring into Action!

Man, I love picking the Pizza Boy! Best helper character ever!

That is one funky looking Purple Dragon Guru!

Cut Scene 3: Into the Shredder's Lair!

I know this is a free Flash game so this may not be entirely fair, but this thing has some seriously amateurish spritework.

Yup, could be better. But also could be a lot worse.

The cut scene art isn't always the most consistent quality either. But the Turtles look pretty good for the most part.

It's a fun little game to play. Didn't make it too far though, I stopped playing after the 6th level due to homework..

Looks like Double Damage is now being hosted on the Nickelodeon website, albeit without the cutscenes, strangely enough...

EDIT:
Eh, looks like this is a pretty common thing to see this game all over the net. Here's another example:

HOLY CRAP I totally wanna play that. I ended up playing through the rest of the game. It's pretty fun, but I must research this Raphael's revenge game.

Hmm, kinda reminds me of an old-old-old TMNT fan game that used to be available on the net. It was flash based with custom drawn sprites, its own unique storyline, level variety, and iffy-at-best gameplay. For the time, I think it was impressive, though.

The first level had you trying to get a turtle out of the sewer, then jumping across rooftops to beat the Technodrome to the Channel 6 building (gameplay goes to crap here), moving through the newsroom to grab April and take her to safety, then you got in the blimp and had to dodge missiles (bad hit-detection), and navigate your way through a ship to find the exit (hard as all get out).

That's about all I can remember of that one. It was available around 2001-2002, but I haven't been able to track it down since and must have deleted it long ago since it was so buggy. Anybody else remember it?

Then again, there is my own Konami-based fan game I made with GameMaker, which is prone to crash and extremely buggy, to say the least! Anyone still wanna play it?

Then here you go!
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=WO2OS8Q7

Instructions:

There are a couple of cut scenes where you just have to sit and let it play through (April getting kidnapped, the Technodrome encounter, and the ending screens).

Most of the game controls are context sensitive, changing depending on what the nature of the level is. For the 1st and 2nd stages when you control Raphael you can use the arrow keys to move left, right, up, or down. Just run over the enemies to kill them. And I admit, it looks pretty cheap for Raph to be floating around the whole place.

Yes, there are a lot of glitches, but I think most of them just take some getting used to. If a character gets stuck in a wall, keep pressing the directional keys and he should eventually get out. Most characters are designed to bounce against the walls anyway.

For the Leonardo level, try not to get hit by Stockman's ray. Get by him and run over Rocksteady to advance. You will get hit by a couple of bullets and bounced around a bit. In the last level, Splinter gives instructions for operating Leo, Don, and Mike. When an enemy attacks high, use Mike. Use Leo against lower enemies, and Don against the enemy who attacks the middle. You have to hold the directional button down when the enemy is charging toward you or you he will overpower you.

If you get stuck, Ctrl resets the game. Esc exits. There are at least two different endings: the Good Ending for beating the game, and the Bad Ending for choosing not to continue on the Game Over box.

I started a thread for it a while back, but none of those links still work.

I've tweaked the original game a bit. Any feedback or recommendations for future improvement would be helpful!

Someone created it during the 90s with Amiga game making software called shoot em up construction kit. The game is really crude, but probably to be expected, given the limitations of the software.

Hey, OMW, what types of Foot Ninja are in the game? I end up getting bored after a few stages and have only encountered gray/sword, yellow/shuriken, red/blowgun, and purple/jumping.

Hmm, I don't really remember. I guess I'll have to pay attention when I give it another playthrough.
