[Fan Art] TMNT Redesign Challenge #2 - Foot Soldier

Here we go, Foot Soldier this month: End Date: 23th February 2010.

Over the years, Saki, who became known as The Shredder, moved to the USA, allied himself with the alien warlord Krang, and replaced the human Foot Ninja with robotic Foot Soldiers. However, these robots are no match for the Ninja Turtles, who destroy them at every encounter.

The Foot robot concept allowed the Turtles to destroy the Foot soldiers without any moral thoughts, allowing Leonardo and Raphael to use their weapons more offensively. Meanwhile the series could keep its younger audience and remain a "family show". This principle also benefited the video games.

Rules:

All people who choose to participate will have two weeks to come up with a redesign for the given character. You can use any medium you wish. You can sketch, paint make a 3-D model, make a sprite, make a custom action figure, whatever you want. Its entirely up to you!

Will only be considered a maximum of 2 finished Art submissions per participant. All submissions made after the end date will not be considered, so please don´t post more art if the deadline ended.

As well, you don't have to force yourself to make your design conform to any new or old cartoon or comic book's style. Be as drastic in your redesign as you see fit. Whatever makes you happy.

If you can't think of a new design, or just hate the idea of working on this character, you do not have to feel obligated to participate in this particular challenge. You will still be free to participate in any future challenges you wish.

Quick question: the original post seems to just cover the robotic Foot Soldiers from the '87 cartoon, but are redesigns of the various human Foot Soldier/Ninja (from Mirage, movies, and 2K3) fair game as well?

Ha, fair enough. Just figured it was worth mentioning/asking.

Reference images from the other "universes" would be cool to include in the first post, if that's the case.

Ah, what the hell, I'm submitting it now. Someone has to go first.

It's a really basic colour job, but I can always update that later if I have time to do something better.

The design has several removable/optional elements, depending on needs of the mission:
- Metal facemask with air filtration for gas attacks (and other defensive uses)
- Infrared goggles for surveillance
- Removable spikes on the boots and knuckles (for help in wall-scaling, and also for offensive use)

Just for fun, I've attached the uninked pencils and a colour-scheme "variant":

Just remember, I was thinking in a "Regular Foot Soldier", the lowest rank in the Foot Clan... as I see it, your submission is all OK with it

Where was this post? I didn't know their was a thread where we could suggest things for the pole.

By the way Bry, your picture seriously is an amazing design! I could so see it being used in actuality.

Nah its not worth a whole thread. You might as well just edit the first post of this to say 'taking suggestions for challenge 3' or something. I'd like to do a mighty mutanimals challenge personally.. It would require more work but it would be awsome if we each redesigned the whole team for one picture. Or just drew select characters. As far as redesigning indivudual characters go though... I'll say... Tokk/rahzar. THAT would be awsome.

You know whom I believe needs a redesign, Venus. She is so creepy she could give children nightmares.

Now that I am thinking about it, Kluh, the punk frogs, and DeathWatch would be great fun.

It would be so fun drawing a picture of DeathWatch ripping off Donny's arm. It would be epic! Get some good blood spurts, and ripped skin. Be something entertaining to do.
