I never really have been a super big TMNT fan, just enough. Today I realized how paranoid I could get when someone is wearing TMNT merchandise and they don't even know the name of the show it came from!

My biggest current TMNT pet peeve is the huge current influx of merchandise with older heads on newer bodies! It's so frustrating, because I'd actually be a little interested in some of this stuff if they got it right.

I also don't care for stuff like this, where the turtles are only used as a punchline for some oh-so-clever slogan ...

Even though it was 20 years ago, I can still remember drawing a picture of Leo in kindergarten when my teacher asked, "which one is that... Sebastian?"

Similar story:

I went and grabbed the 2007 film on day of release at Target, and the cashier looks at my purchase, saying "Oh man, I loved that show when I was little. My favorite one was Yoda. He was the smart one, right?"

I just smiled and nodded.

Dude, don't hate. That "Chicks dig guys..." one is the most pure and decent piece of Turtles merchandise ever released.

Well it's the only piece of TMNT merchandise in recent years that I actually went out and actively searched for. Never did find it, but I wanted it. It's hilarious.

A friend of mine thought that the OT in Turtles Forever were the "past" turtles and they had accidently traveled to the future.

He also thought Utrom Shredder and his robot body were two different characters.

And that the Mirage Turtles were the future of all the turtles.

He thought all of this through out the special.

He must of missed the part where they said ALTERNATE DIMENSION. LOL, it's explained throughout the whole thing, not really hard to miss unless you're not paying attention.

I never really had anyone comment about me when I were my turtles gear. Although I think there were a couple of girls commenting it when I was riding home on the bus, (not quiet sure, I was listening to music and all I just vaugly heard the word turtles lol).

The Shredder/ splinter name mix up bothers me also.
The only other pet peeve I have is certain fans on here who will remain nameless, who are pretty wack but think they're sh1t doesn't stink.

Wow I guess I don't have too many run ins with ignorant people, well ignorant about TMNT at least. I can't believe some of the comments everyone has heard. The worst one mentioned already for me is the Raph/Ralph one. The ones I hate the most are the comparisons between the old toon and new toon, though.

"So Shredder is Krang now?"

"Why aren't Bebop and Rocksteady there, can't Shredder just make some more mutagen?"

"Wait, April isn't a reporter?"

"Why is Baxter Stockman black?" or "When does he become a fly?"

The worst one for me out of all mediums is the Human to Rat Splinter origin. I can't stand that everyone thinks that Splinter was Hamato Yoshi and he turned ratlike. It was all explained in the 1st movie, but still everyone thinks that's the wrong origin and the toon is right.

The only other one I hate is when people tell me TMNT is for kids, not adults. I get this from people all the time, telling me I'm too old to like them. Or, "Are you buying that for your children?". I try to explain that the original Turtles were the complete opposite of what was portrayed in the OT. They think I'm crazy, 'cause the Turtles could never be mean, "they're too cute!" Ugh, I hate the term cute when it comes to TMNT too.

I have a "Chicks Dig the Ride" Party Wagon shirt, but I never saw that magnet, was that at Hot Topic? I don't like that "Ninja Please!", or the "Strictly for my Ninjas" one at all. Does anyone else see anything wrong with that? I mean sure the stupidity factor, but how about the connotations implied? I don't think it's okay to make a play on words like that, making a parody of a word that should not even be spoken. And I do know it's in reference to the "a" on the end version of the word, but still, not cool.

I don't really get this rant, to be honest. Are you saying that the word 'Ninja' should not be spoken? Also, what's in reference to the "a" in the word? Am I just being stupid and not seeing what you're seeing, or what?

Now the "Chicks dig guys that eat out" one, I can see some double entendres there for sure.

The best part was trying to correct him afterwards. He gave me a blank stare, walked out of the room and shut the door.

We haven't talked about it since.

If can't stand that, then try having people tell you that BATMAN is for kids and that you need to grow up.

Yeah, BATMAN, the Dark Knight...

Truth be told, the toon turtles were often very politically incorrect. They had variant figures of them as native americans and mexican banditos for chisssakes. Lol one can't forget the countless referances in the cartoon either...

Aah, never mind - I just spotted it. I was looking so intently into the 'Strictly For My Ninjas' I never realised you were referring to the "Ninja Please" one. D'oh!

Yeah I remember those, but I never saw the racism in them at the time. Maybe a little more now, but it was visually interesting at least. The turtle on the shirt isn't visually interesting to me, in fact you really couldn't get more basic. Him also having a grill in his mouth doesn't help me with it, either. I guess it's just one of those words I never liked, nor it's "reinvention", and using it on TMNT items just makes me ill. I do remember a couple veiled references in the cartoon, but mostly I remember the sexist ones. There were a lot of those.

TMNT_Guy: That is crazy, Batman of all characters, the one who is half villian to begin with. I get the, "is this for your children?" question from older people mostly. But never on any Batman figure, I just figured that most people realize now, at least when it comes to the main comic heroes, that they are for all ages. The issue with TMNT though is half the people out there don't even realize it's a comic, let alone that the comic came first.

People in my area have this logic:

Comic Book= KIDS.

April's character designed was changed WAY too much for BTTS. And she looks so flimsy! At least the original 2k3 April looked stronger and curvier. And of course, the OT April is downright SEXY!

You have to keep in mind that not a lot of people knew Ninja Turtles was originally a comic book, thus they wouldn't know the original origin.
