I have a hard time seeing that face used in the movie due to the trouble it'll give the animatronics crew and/or the 3D animators. The mouth is too beaky and just can't give a wide range of facial emotions to emulate with the audience.

I don't think it's really meant for the TMNT movie and I dislike it. Think of all the children who'll have to add that turtle head to the cast of their fearful evils like Jason Voorhies, Freddy, Michael Meyers, Leprechaun, Chucky, etc. It's not very kid friendly which should be their main target audience. Although I won't rule out the possibility of that head being an evil turtle counterpart like Tokka was in TMNT 2 or Slash from the 1987 TMNT series.

It's ugly as sin and not in a neat Hellboy way, I doubt it's official but I wouldn't be surprised if they did something as stupid as actually using something like that. Stupid decisions has been this franchise's thing for the past few years.

I'll agree that it's time for something different, but I'd prefer that different not be so hideous. That's not to say I won't watch the film and love it if they do look like that - but they could do a LOT better, I think.

So I'm voting for it could be real but I'm not particularly liking it.

They could revamp the series without radically changing the kid-friendly look. Think something like Ultimate Spider-Man.

They could have the greatest story ever but if a green Monty Burns is the lead hero it won't work as well.

I really like it, but don't have a scooby if its official or not. I voted for I THINK its official, mostly in hope. Not that i'd want that as a final look, but something similar that's a total breakaway from the normal TMNT look? Yes please, i'd take that any day.

Depends on where they go with the story. If it's a typical Turtles-save-the-day affair, I'd agree.

But if they want to present the Turtles as more ambiguous, or as real freaks in this movie, this kind of design is a great way to send the message that they're doing something completely different from previous offerings. Might bring in a curious, more stable (i.e. who won't grow out of it in two years) crowd.

At this point, there's really no new direction that I would consider too radical. Time to experiment. I'd be kind of surprised if Viacom does anything but play it safe, which is why I'm on the fence about this being real, but there's no doubt that they're savvier marketers than Mirage ever was. So who knows?

The Mirage Turtles are not ugly. Anyone who thinks this is what Eastman/Laird's Turtles are like obviously hasn't read any comics.
