This is awesome news. The full screen doesn't bother me to much though it would have been nice to have it widescreen. Can't wait!

Bam. I stand corrected. And excited!
(I hope the cover art isn't final though.)

presented in full screen video. We know fans are curious about widescreen home videos for this production, and even high-def Blu-ray Disc releases. We can only say that the studios are ONLY announcing a full screen DVD here.

I'm still worried with the fact that's in fullscreen, and the running time is about 70 minutes, which is closer to the edited for TV version than the full "director's cut" version.

Yeah, that would be a major disappointment.

all I know is that if the Director's Cut isn't on the official release, then I won't be buying this DVD. Without the extra footage, you don't get the whole story.

I'm sure there will be complaints about it later on that might convince them to re-release the movie in it's full uncut version, like they did TMNT Season 7, when instead of the four separate DVDs, they finally released a full season set.

and from the sounds of it, it sounds like this movie won't have any extras either, which means none of the included deleted footage may be on this DVD either.

but, like everyone else, I will wait to see more information about this, closer to the release date. But if you want the Uncut version of the movie, the best time to email Nickelodeon about this, is now, before the release is official.

Well this is exciting news, although If you removed "Turtles Forever" from the cover and asked me what the release was, I'd say it was a 2003 series season set. So that kinda sucks, why wouldn't they just use that great movie poster style art that was made? Still at least we are getting it. I also hoped it would be on blu-ray

Details on the release are very disappointing.

So a fullscreen presentation, even though it was animated in widescreen? The TV cut of the film rather than the full length version streamed on the 4Kids website? No bonus features?

The entire thing looks like a totally rushed hack job. The cover art is just cut and pasted stock art with no sign of the Fred Wolf Turtles or anything that even reflects the content of the film.

The blurb on the back shows an utter lack of interest or knowledge of the material, listing Casey as one of the "classic characters" the Turtles encounter.

Very disappointing news and a grim portent of things to come under Nick's rule.

Not good. Happy to have the film on DVD, but not in such a shoddy, rushed, half-assed manner.

I will VERY annoyed if it is the annotated version instead of the "director's cut" I prolly wont buy it if it is a shortened up version.

As for the "full screen vs widescreen" Do we even know if a widescreen version EXISTS? I don't remeber the showing at SanD Con being widescreen... o_O

and shawn: Blue-Ray DVDs are usually higher quality picture and sound, but you can't play them on a regular DVD player, only on a blu-ray player.

I'm wondering where David Lambert got the information about the 70 minute running time and where he got the cover artwork. To me, the cover artwork looks kinda like something someone whipped up in photoshop for a placeholder or something... Why wouldn't they use the cool poster that's already made up for it? ( http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_o-v2tRqWXY...rFinalRVSD.JPG )

Fantasmo. Cover's a bit generic, but it's the content that really counts for me.

For starters, Blu-Rays aren't DVDs. While they are based on the same principles, DVDs are only the optical discs written with red laser. Blue is the color on the opposite end of the spectrum, so it produces a finer laser. So, the same size disc can hold ~5x the information of a DVD. What they do with all this extra capacity is enhance the picture resolution and leave the audio uncompressed for higher quality output. Granted, some people can't detect this difference either because they're looking too hard to find it or because their senses just aren't sharp enough to detect it. So, to them, it looks like this new optical disc format is an unnecessary fad. It's not unlike the issue of stereo vs. mono LPs from ages ago. Albums were always mixed in stereo (2 audio channels) first and monaural (1 audio channel) later. Why? Most people couldn't afford but one speaker, so the more expensive technology of stereo was less popular. But, today, mixing an album in mono is pointless. Oh, and to ween the public from DVD to Blu-Ray, studios have been known to include extra bonus features on the Blu-Ray that aren't available on the DVD version.

Yes, no widescreen and not the director's cut version is not great. And the cover art seemed like it was put together. Why not use the Turtles Forever poster as the cover? See?

It sure was. It just wasn't that super-narrow kind. If you don't recall, the edited, feature-length presentation 4Kids showed on TheCW and the Director's Cut they have streaming on their site are both widescreen. Only the 'chopped into three eps' versions were actually full-frame.

Could you post one or two comparison Pictures between the widescreen and Full-Frame Version?

I just looked into it and it turns out the 3-parter was widescreen as well. I wonder where I got the idea that it was fullframe...

So, good news, everyone! There is no fullframe edition (unless Nick sliced one up).

P.S. - Yes, I double-checked the other versions for widescreeniness too.

My main beef is it's the TV cut because after seeing the directors cut the TV cut makes a lot less sense. Taking out the Karai scene was a very bad idea.

I highly suggest that you all email Paramount Home Entertainment and voice your discontentment regarding the improper aspect ratio and running time.

You can email Paramount Home Entertainment at [email protected]

Here's my email as an example:

Quote:
Dear Paramount Home Entertainment and Nickelodeon,

My name is John Pannozzi. I am a big fan of many Paramount and Nickelodeon properties, including Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. It has come to my attention that you are planning a DVD release of the recent telefilm "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Forever" (also known as "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles Forever" or simply "Turtles Forever") on August 24th. While I am happy to see this production getting a home video release, there are a few aspects about this release that greatly disappoint me and I hope can be remedied before the DVD is ready for release. According to the official sellsheet information described at TV Shows on DVD.com, the DVD will apparently be in fullscreen and have an approximate running time of 70 minutes. First of all, "Turtles Forever" was originally produced and shown on TV in a widescreen aspect ratio, and it should retain that ratio (preferably in anamorphic form) on DVD. Secondly, 70 minutes is about how long the edited version of the film shown on TV was. The full "director's cut" version of the film (which had previously been available online at 4Kids' website) is said to run about 78 or 90 minutes (sources differ), and the DVD release should ideally contain the longest version of the film. Finally, I would like this film to also be available on Blu-ray Disc, since the film was produced in high definition. While I know the Blu-ray Disc market is not quite as popular as DVD, I believe that the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles brand name could sell well on Blu-ray Disc (considering that last year, Warner Home Video and New Line Cinema released a Blu-ray Disc collection of the first four theatrical Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles films, and it seemed to sell well.) Please try to take my requests into consideration. Thank you for considering my suggestions. Please respond when you can.
