I threw down an 8. I have confidence in Nickelodeon and no Laird gumming up the works just puts it over the top for me.

Is anyone still actually holding out for a TMNT show that's aimed at adults?

I still love me Raphie though...I dont want to see how bad Nick is going to show him.

re: Power Rangers, Dragon Ball, Voltron etc.

so they want to line it up with crappy kiddie action shows...what made 2K3 so good they used a lot of comic book storylines...*IF* Nick follows this, I MAY check it out...
...I would say yes. As if it hasn't been aimed towards kids for the past 20 years, right?

On that note...

Yes, 2k3 used comic storylines. However, it was an action show aimed at children. No questioning that. Airing on Nicktoons, it would not be out-of-place amongst shows like Voltron, Dragonball Z Kai, and Power Rangers. Anyone who thinks otherwise didn't seem to notice that 2k3 was a Saturday morning cartoon made by a company called 4Kids that aired in a block completely dedicated to shows meant to entertain children.

Why is this so hard to grasp? How has this gone un-noticed for so long?

What I don't get is why it's such a bad thing for it to be for kids. Hell, violence or no violence, I'd say the original comics are for kids in their own way. Nothing wrong with anyone of any age enjoying them, or the cartoons that came from them, either way.

I wouldn't show each and every issue of Vol. 1 to my (hypothetical) young children, but there are at least a few issues I can personally think of that are safe for all ages and I'm sure there would be more if I actually looked into it.

Yeah, let's assume the TMNT show is going to be like Rugrats or Spongebob.

WTF is wrong with some of you? Are you actually being serious?

Also, I was being sarcastic.

I have to say an 8. They are suppose to be combining the best of all the universe. This will be very interesting to see I am just happy they are getting a reboot by a big name company.

I am just going to keep my fingers crossed...I hope they will do a good job. It could go either way, but back in the early 90s Nick was good in my OP they had Ren and Stimpy, Rocko's Modern Life, Are You Afraid of the Dark etc, etc. Those were very good shows in my OP so maybe the TMNT will turn out good!

I have some hope it will be good. However, I think I mostly go with Pineapple's statement. I'm just glad the something is being done with the franchise and that Nick or anybody else decided to sweep it into a dark corner to gather dust.

This of course does not mean I would tolerate crap, I'm just saying I appreciate the effort...

I hope they do the movie at least in a similar fashion to the comics and make it good. If they do the TV show more like the original toon or a hybrid of comics and original toon or something I will take that for a really cool movie series. I put 5 but I doubt my confidence is that high but I can hope they will do it in a way to make original fans happy even though we only make up a sliver of what their target market likely is.

Nick isn't the kid/comedy cartoons from the 90s, they want to get into action shows, you can tell that by looking at their line up of Power Rangers, Dragon Ball, Voltron etc. They've also produced one of the best action shows (Avatar) ever so they are up to it.

For the new show my level of confidence is very high, I think Nick will really do a great job with it. However my level of confidence with Nick/Viacom having the turtles franchise is 50/50, I really don't know what they'll do with the turtles after this revival finishes its run, they have many other hugely iconic franchises they just don't use at all.. So maybe after the new show finishes its run after 6 years or so its the end of the turtles for a considerably long amount of time.

And for those who want a more serious take on the turtles, remember Viacom owns the turtles, they took Ren & Stimpy from Nick and made a show for MTV for an adult audience when they saw thats what people wanted, sure that show was terrible and failed but it shows that Viacom was ok with taking one of its cartoons from their kid network and give it a shot at an older audience. In fact it might be even more likely for the TMNT to have a more adult take on it, Mirage had the franchise for 25 years and was never able to do "adult" turtles outside of comics and even if they kept the franchise it likely wasn't going to happen, they were to small to take the risk but Viacom isn't.
Yeah not to be funny, im suprised how much Dragonball is NOT edited, i couldnt believe how much raw footage was left untouched.

I believe Nick could really hit it with this new TMNT series, i hope it becomes as good as it was in the 80's where every wheres you go you see some indication that TMNT is back.

I really don't want to sound like Mr. Negativity, but I really can't see TMNT regaining the popularity it had back in the late 80's/early 90's. TMNT was new and fresh when it first came out and it really tapped into the culture of the times, it had a moderate resurgence of popularity back in '03 when the new toon came out, but nothing like the old days. Times are different now and pop culture is different, it may be successful, but it won't compare to the level of popularity during it's initial run.

I understand what you're trying to say, usagi-san, and I do hope it's successful and popular, but I'm just trying to tell you to not get your hopes up for a second coming of Turtle-mania.

I have 100% confidence in Nickelodeon handling the show. I loved what Nick did with Avatar:the Last Airbender, and have full confidence that they can handle the TMNT well.
