Worst Part Of Being Interviewed, Worst Question Asked

Since there is like 15 million Americans out of work, this is a reminder that we all have had a job interview and been asked those tough questions. And I'm sure we were all put into a situation by a manager we didn't like, or been asked a question that makes ask "huh?!!" Can your remember the worst part of being interviewed and the hardest question you were asked?

Hardest situation for me was recalling an actual event that either didn't happen in my past of was so long ago I don't remember. Basically being unprepared for the line of questioning.

Hardest question: "What kind of animal would you be and why?" I don't know on the spot because I don't think of myself as anything other than human. Duh!

Are you a US citizen....

best interview question: why should we hire you? What makes you the best person for this job out of all the other candidates.

I've never not gotten a job I applied for. Green card or not.

On the few interviews I've been on I have never got any difficult questions. The waiting for the interview is the worst part

Yeah, they generally throw those questions out there just to see how you do under pressure and how you react. It's all about being prepared, having an open mind and relaxing.

Probably 2 of the hardest questions I get are:\

1) What do you think are your weaknesses at your current job or the last job?
2) Can you recall an event in which you stood out from your job and really made an impression?

And that is why I looked around for desperate help. I found Glassdoor (www.glassdoor.com), which is an interview reference site among different companies; Best Buy, Wal-Mart, Walgreens, Target, Jewel-Osco, Sports Authority (entry, intern and corporate levels) and many more. People submit their own personal reviews, the actual word-for-word interview questions, some with the answers, and if they got an offer or not. Naturally focus on the questions with answers from those who got the job. Some users provide a TIP on what is expected out of the question. This is site long overdue, and I really wish I found it a long time ago.

And I hate those questions where you have to recall and actual event from before, (team work, leadership, a difficult customer, bad service, group work, etc.) and if you can't remember that on the spot because you're trying to recall many years of possible best experiences in each category. I also dislike those kind of questions that are psychological; "what kind of animal would you be and why?" "if you were a TV character, who would it be and why?" The animal question I chose I would be a dog because they are loyal, dependable, committed, there when you need them, supportive, and they do what you want them to do. And for the TV character, ironcially in this case I chose Leonardo, because he is loyal, a born leader, puts the needs of others above his own, confident, makes the attempt to get things taken care of.

Here's one I found on Glassdoor. "What would you do if you were here at Best Buy and you caught one of your friends or your mother stealing?" Normally I would report it to the manager, but when it involves a close relationship, expecially a mother/father who brought you up from the beginning, then how do you handle that? Do you risk losing your job for not making the example, or do you risk being disowned by your whole family? You can't win no matter what course of action you take.

Lastly you are right Cowabunga Kiefer, they do toss the kind of questions the require an answer that you never think about.

I'm positive Wal-mart and Target both sell PS3, Wii, Xbox, and a variety of other name brand electronics... You really have no idea what you are talking about anymore...
