I wonder if this will be a new take or if it will pick up dangling continuity threads...who could possibly have a story that needs wrapping up?

My first thought was April Fool. I've been taking everything with a pinch of salt today.

So then I checked:

Looks good to me!

TMNT fans will also be treated to newly remastered collections of classic Turtles comics, beginning with the original 1980s series that started this worldwide phenomenon.

damn you, you beat me to it. Awesome news tho.

I'd guess they'll be starting fresh, but from the looks of things in the same tone as the Mirage material. Still, couldn't hurt to try, right...?

*oldmanwinters* · 04-01-2011, 05:52 PM

My first thought:
Tristan is back! He made a post! He's still alive! Praise God!

My second thought:
A new TMNT comic series? Potentially a serious take aimed at older readers? Wow!!! Let's hope this one lasts longer than the Dreamwave series!

My third thought:
April Fooled!
What, really? Cool!

*plastroncafe* · 04-01-2011, 05:52 PM

Well THIS just makes my day!
Awesome!

TristanHuwJones · 04-01-2011, 05:56 PM

I'd been lurking...

Hadn't had a lot to say, lately. Had some creator owned projects get up off the ground, the first to hit later this year(!) and have something very cool to announce shortly!

Gotta see if I can get in on TMNT somehow though...!

joe-eyeball · 04-01-2011, 05:56 PM

I have been feeling physically unwell lately and this just made me feel a whole lot better. GREAT NEWS!!!!!!!!!!!!

TristanHuwJones · 04-01-2011, 05:59 PM

I would definitely suggest people head over to the IDW boards and voice their support for what IDW have planned! Collections of the Mirage stuff?! Far too long in coming! New PG rated series? Hell. Yes.

Just curious, Tristan, would you consider Tales of TMNT v.2 PG rated? Or the later issues of the Archie series?

PG would be great for me, since I'm not really much on the ultra-violent n' glory, dirty jokes, cussn' like a sailor stuff. I don't really have much recent first-hand exposure to the kind of stuff IDW has put out.

azrael · 04-01-2011, 06:01 PM

I am excited for this I wonder where they will start. A new origin or slightly different origin with the same concept.

So many possibilites hopefully PL gets a spark of creativity and finishes up volume 4

Fan favourite Tristan Jones added to the rosta of new TMNT writers?

*Andrew NDB* · 04-01-2011, 06:02 PM

This has been going for a while now.

*oldmanwinters* · 04-01-2011, 06:03 PM

Here's the part that really shocked me:

Quote:

TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES comics will be available in comic stores throughout North America in Summer 2011.

Seriously? So soon? Well over a year before the new animated series is set to premiere?

Gotta be a typo, right?

azrael · 04-01-2011, 06:03 PM

I would love a pg13 series, I mean look how far movies push that without it being overly gory or violent.

Utromshredderhater · 04-01-2011, 06:05 PM

A thought just occurred to me, Do you think this is Dawn of the ninja finally getting breakthrough?

Hell no.

I skipped going to WonderCon today, but I'll go tomorrow and see if I can get any additional info.

I don't think it'll be new content coming out this year, but trades of previous stuff.
