Type like the WIND, Rose!
LIKE THE WIND!

Also? Those stills from the Kids Choice Awards are all kinds of awesome.
Thanks for the import, OMWinters!

The pilot we saw was not the actual first episode.

Wha? An April who just hangs around and doesn't really do anything? Sounds like they are following the Mirage Comics tradition!

Seriously, though, this new info makes me both really excited and relieved about the new show. It'll be especially interesting seeing a re-imagining of Splinter.

Sweet! So maybe it'll be a bonus feature on the DVD? Rose, can you tell us the pilot's runtime?

Not first ep. 'Pilot'. These terms aren't necessarily synonymous. It has been said (by TVsKyle or Toon, both Nickelodeon employees) that this pilot may never see the light of day. So, I would assume this to mean that it's simply a test animation meant to be more of a demonstration than anything. Anyone who knows better can feel free to correct me or confirm what I'm saying.

25 minutes. Normal length of an episode is 22, so they'll have to trim it when it comes to making it into an actual episode.

There is no actual animation. It is meant to establish the look/feel of the series. This is one reason why it's not the first episode.

I like the idea about Splinter! It reminds me of Archie's version where he looked much younger and he and the Turtles both were taller.

Young April... doesn't really bother me. Be kinda cool to see the turtles mix it up with folks there own age!

Giant Splinter... doesn't really bother me. Be kinda cool to see a different take on Splinter.

Toaster Stockman... kinda does. But now that Roseangelo's said that its a suit, and not a toaster... doesn't really bother me.

Three toes... doesn't really bother me.

What I see is a company mixing things up a fair bit. Do we really want to see the same rehashed toons of old, or something completely different and new? You wanna see a cartoon based on the Fred Wolf series? Watch the Fred Wolf series. 2k3? Watch 2k3. Mayhap a mix 'tween the two? Turtles Forever.

Well, technically, Archie Splinter was in his 60s (probably 62) at the time since he would have been born on May 11, 1930. Not really "young" but he certainly still had a lot of vigor in him and had a tall stature. I agree with you though, Venom, an imposing Splinter ala the Archie tradition could be really great!

Yeah, I'm more or less with this stance. Though I HATE the crush aspect.

I'm not so much fond of the teen April thing, but if it won't be changed I can adjust.

So here were my gripes:

Splinter is 6 foot something, he is not the Yoda like figure he once was, he is also young. This totally destroys the idea of Splinter for me, one, because he looks ridiculous that tall, two, because Splinter was small and frail looking but a total badass. They mentioned that "We made him larger so he would be a better match for the Shredder and a more intimidating father figure." Whatever dude, let's re-make Star Wars and have Yoda be huge or re-make the Karate Kid (again) and have Mr. Miyagi be a big buff sumo wrestler. This kills me. It totally destroys the mystique of Splinter for me.

Another point, Donatello is much taller and goofier looking than the rest of the turtles, April O'Neil is sixteen and she is Donatellos love interest. Am I the only one that finds this ridiculous? I guess so.

Krang will appear but is known as "The Kraaang".

I thought that all of this stuff was perhaps an early April fools joke, hopefully this "Mutation in progress" isn't the final word.

Baxter Stockman is still the original African American Baxter, but he mutates with a toaster and becomes a giant toaster robot, but at least that isn't his permanent form apparently.

Not to mention the whole 3 toes thing, that was a minor but still annoying aspect of everything that I disliked.
....man, that's a lot of things I don't like. The only one that doesn't bother me is teenage April - her being a love interest bothers me a lot, though.

Heh, forgot about the crush. So Nick feels weird about an adult April hanging around with teenagers, but totally don't mind interspecies relations. Odd!

Oh, and Kraaang!

Do we get to say it like this?

Seriously not all Asian Martial Arts masters have to look like they can barely lift their tea cups.

And what is the big gripe that April is younger, afraid she won't have the sane bust size she had in the Fred Wolf cartoon?

Isn't Sponge Bob's girlfriend a squirrel?

Just curious it is like a one sided crush thing like from Don's end or are the two of them actually in a relationship or the potential to be in one.

One sided crush we have kind of had before won't bother me, I would honestly find it a little odd if Nick put one of the guys into an actual relationship with a human?
