Machi, This is incredibly difficult and the best thing you can do is exactly what you have already done, disclose to people you trust who will give you positivity back. The situation is made so much harder when the whole family isn't coming together in a system of support.
Be there for everyone who will have it, find ways to create a safe outlet and please take care of yourself too. My heart goes out to you. |

Had a funny incident with Toby today. He hates rain, and it was raining for most of the day. Well, when he asked to go out it was raining, but I took him out because I figured he needed to go. We get out there, and Toby just feels the rain, turns around, and goes up the steps so I can bring him back in. The second time it was thundering, so I took him out by the garage way so we wouldn't get wet. He just stood there for a few seconds, turned, and went back inside. Both times he looked at me like, "Okay, I went out. Can I have my treat now?" Of course, I didn't give him one because he didn't do his buisiness like he was supposed to. After it cleared up, he went outside and did his business, so I gave him a treat. It was funny.

Yeah, Toby can be sneaky at times. Another day this week, it was pretty warm out, so he asked to go out but didn't do his business. Instead he sniffed the air, walked for a bit, then turned and went back to the door to be let in. Then he went to the kitchen and looked at me like, "Can I have a treat?" Nope. He didn't get one. Little snot. I have to dog-sit today, so after Dad gets home we're going to go pick Toby up and bring him here.

Well... I just got back after a 90 minute trip-for-nothing...
My nephew's gone downhill... his kidneys are failing, and they've send him home with a DNR order. So we wanted to go and see him before it's too late. My dad and my brother got there, but when I showed up, the grandmother on the other side had a ****-fit, and I got thrown out by the 'nurse' after seeing my nephew for about... 30 seconds. Apparently only one side of the family should be permitted to see him.... They're gonna try to put him into a hospice around here somewhere, but we probably won't even be allowed to see him then. Or his funeral... |

Yep, this is going to help their son/grandson/nephew/brother get better, pointless bitterness. Families are supposed to come together in times like these. Seriously, I think I know you pretty well and I can't think why anyone would treat you in such a way. You are one of the sweetest people I know. You seem willing to bury the hatchet...more than I can say for these "adults".

They're more interested in Creating drama... I'd hate to think the last words he hears from his family is senseless bickering....

No, he's still got a daughter. Though she only contacts him for money/computer repairs... I wish he didn't have to deal with them anymore..

I guess I meant, "After he's gone...to from what I hear will be a much better place where he doesn't have to deal with all this drama...will YOU have to deal with any of these people?"

I barely have contact with my neices anymore.. They've decided that they're too good enough to speak to us as well... so no, I don't have to deal with them, but my brother does.

Sucks for your brother. Man, these kind of messy divorces suck. Your former sister-in-law seems like a real shrew. How old is your nephew?

Man, Machi, that sucks. I know about drama too well. It sucks that your family is doing this to you. As Jester said, families are supposed to band together during times like this and bury the hatchet. No offense to you, but I really hate your family right now. I wish I could just go and tell them off. Heck, I know how it is to try to bury the hatchet and then have things blow up in your face. My sis does it all the time, and she isn't going to stop anytime soon. I'll still keep you and your nephew in my thoughts, Machi. *gives Machi a big hug*
Toby was actually good for me yesterday, and today I don't have to watch him because my bro doesn't have to work due to the rain. So, I get the day off. Yay!

Be strong Machi, or more appropriate, keep being strong <3
Bubblyshell- I wonder if I could find the animal thread we had going before I left for awhile, it's probably right in front of my face and I miss it I loved that thread, it was fun to see everyone's animals and their shenanigans. |

Just went outside for a smoke, hadn't for a while...
A baby mouse drowned in my pool at some point in these last few hours. That sh*t saddens me a lot, I don't care to hear any "oh it's just a rodent" remarks or nothin'. I have a great love for all creatures, most especially little fuzzy ones. Sucks. I took it out, buried it in the woods & said a prayer (I'm totally relgion free, but it was more of a send off of respect than anything else). Some of ya might think that that's a little much... but I dunno. Screw it. Things like this always really bother me because something that's always on my mind is the ripple effect. For the last few hours I'd just been sitting about, watching classless stand-up comedy, laughing at the crudeness of America while some poor innocent thing was struggling for its life less than 20 feet away from me... Circle of life blah blah blah these things happen I know. ...Just wish I woulda had a smoke earlier, maybe I coulda taken it out before it was too late. |

Machi, I am so sorry to hear about the family drama you're dealing with. It's bad enough to have family drama, but to have it while dealing with something as incredibly hard and sad such as a family member dying is just so awful. I will be thinking of you and your family in this time of pain.
Powder, I think it's wonderful that you would take the time to show respect for any creature, no matter how small it is. |

Powder, that's very touching that you did that. I'm not vegan or anything, but I do like most animals and would do my best to try to save any animal in need. Just the other day while Toby and I were outside, we saw a dead bird. I had never seen anything like that before, and it stopped me in my tracks. Then I had to try to make sure Toby didn't go after it and try to carry it inside. But it just saddened me that such a nice bird had to die like that.
TD, it's okay about the animal thread. I don't have any pictures of Toby anyway. And since this is the Cafe, I figured we could share funny stories as well as vent about troubles. So that's why I talked about my adventures with Toby.
