Was there anything to discuss here before Vol. 4 and the 4kids series started?

The TMNT franchise had essentially been dead for like 5 years before that.

if you type any equivalent of TMNT/Ninja turtles forum/message board you get the technodrome as the first or top 3 result, you don't have to know what a technodrome is to find these forums.

I'm sure the site will explode when the new show starts. He-Man.org did when the new show started and again recently when Mattel started the new toy line. Also Thundercats have been rebooted with a toy line and new series and Thundercats.com has had a huge surge in members in recent weeks.

I'm sure there was plenty of fanfics and bullshi**ing about OT episodes and the movies like we do now.

Which was about it. At the time the OT wasn't on DVD, so the only way people could watch old eps is either from those official VHS tapes that were released in the 90's, (and most eps were not on VHS), or whoever recorded them on TV and saved the tapes. This is the reason most old fans hadn't seen any OT eps in YEARS until the DVDs were out.

Likewise Next Mutation bombed and the last most recent comic series was the Image series.

There really wasn't much to talk about from that era. Didn't help matters that's when the Pokemon craze started and the anime boom happened in the U.S., causing most TMNT fans to drift at the time.

I actaully join bc I was google-ling stuff bc I was wondering if they were going to make a sequal for TMNT and Google pulled up a thread about it. I looked at the thread and was very interested.
I kept google-ling for news of a sequal and of course pulled up another thread from the technodrome, I finally got a account on here, I wasn't really "active" but that is bc TMNT was basically in a dead zone and then Nick bought them and I began to post again, but went inactive again, but then I jst started getting on here a lot bc I began to gain interest I guess... IDK but Im here to stay

I had casually lurked around here a few times before joining so I was aware the 'Drome existed. Then back in 2006 I began to start *really* collecting the old comics and then news about TMNT hitting the silver screen made me think more and more about this place.

Also, I had tried to talk about the Turtles on a couple of other places and realized I would be in good company here at the 'Drome. When I initially joined I lurked for the most part because I felt like I should have something worthwhile to say. I stayed a sporadic poster until about 2009 when Powder began posting and saw "Dang, I can talk about anything like this kid."

Oh stop talking like you were there. TMNT online fandom has been strong and healthy since 1996-ish, albeit muchmuch smaller back then. If there wasn't new TMNT stuff to talk about, we spent the interim being *gasp* friends. And I still count many of my IRL best friends as people I met during those early days.

At the time I also remember Dan Berger posting those stories on the TMNT letters pages which included Venus on the official site. Each Turtle had a letters page and told a different version of the story.

Kind of odd since back then nobody thought the Turtles would ever come back.

I miss all the cool "mom-and-pop" TMNT fan sites from back in the day (seems like a lot of them were geocities). Those were my first crash course in the Mirage & Image comics. I mostly just browsed them for information, but it did seem like the people who ran them were really tight-knit. Dawnatello, Greenwillow, and Ninjaturtlesnetwork were really kept the fandom going when there weren't any new media on the horizon.
