Green is also what's probably most famous.

The TGRI/TCRI canister is what cements this debate, however as the most iconic source of mutagen. Even in the OT green mutagen is prominent than pink/violet as shown below. The animators were just unsure of what color mutagen really was early in the series; before the movie made green the predominant color from that point forward.

What would be the point? Splinter'd just dip into his collection of magic moth balls to deflate the affected people.

Then again this is the cartoon were Donatello had a ray gun that changed peoples personalities just laying in a wardrobe yet never thought of using it on Shredder or Krang but was okay with using it on his brother.

Shredder's personality already changed too many times in the old show, like when he thought he was Michaelangelo, or when his mind moved into Splinter's body, or the time he fell down and got amnesia but still wanted to blow up the city.

I think there were at least 3-4 plotlines where Shredder loses his mind.

38 cents? Boy, have things gone up in value since then! And why would Mike and Don have to "share" a box?

Still, brings back memories when Nabisco commercials ended with NAH-BISS-CO! (ding)

I always wondered the same thing about box sharing. I feel like they got the short end of the stick. I mean I can't imagine they only had three flavors. Then again maybe they did and that's why they have to share.

Yeah. Any more than "3-4 plotlines" out of his 150 or so episodes would have been pointless repitition.

I was rewatching some old TMNT Playmates toy commercials, and they usually refer to mutagen as "retromutagen". The file cards refer to mutagen as that as well. Is "retromutagen" the full term for the ooze?

Isn't retro-mutagen the stuff that would turn them back to turtles/original state and mutagen the stuff that mutates you? That's why Shredder tried to attack with retro-mutagen not mutagen he wanted to undue the mutation not mutate themfurther.

Ya know what. I think there's a pretty easy answer to this question. The color of mutagen is whatever food coloring Shredder and Krang had available in the kitchen cabinet that day.

What's that image? No Foot soldiers are mutants, at least not in 1987 and Archie. Is it from the toyline?

Yeah the toyline. Like the image I like to use in my signature is from the Mutations line and is the "Mutation Chart" for the Foot Soldier figure. If you notice, it refers to mutagen as "retromutagen". I've seen it on other toys as well.

(Talking about the original cartoon here.) Maybe, if we're looking for some kind of explanation for "pink" and "green", we could say that the "original" mutagen that mutated the Turtles was pink. Once Shredder found this out, he obtained the rest of that "original" mutagen. Then, when that ran out, he started to have to manufacture his own, which came out green, because it wasn't the "original" mutagen, it was "processed" mutagen.

It could explain why the earlier episodes seemed to have pink, and the later ones had green. Shredder ran out of the "original" stuff, and started having to make his own "synthetic" stuff.

Maybe? Eh? Eh?

(Outside of the cartoon, I'll always think of mutagen as green, though.)
