I do hope you are correct, however I never had much faith in playmates and am a little upset with myself for getting a bit excited over the sweet looking figures. Anyway, here's the site the pic came from:

Ninja'd...

Edit: Agreed, I think shell heads is a more fitting nomenclature.

The Nick show line looks awesome, though I do think they'll look much crappier in person I will still get them since I like it. Odd that they are not show accurate, I kind of like that they aren't but also wish they were.

Classics line I am so undecided about. I am very disappointed that they are not toon accurate. I wanted them to be happy or have a smug Raphael. I do like their faces and they reflect the intro which is awesome but I really wanted OT accurate turtles.. All the articulation is odd, I really didn't want articulated toes and fingers, I'd rather have a better looking sculpt. The belts and non-show accurate stuff really bums me out, especially since they didn't seem to decide whether they wanted OT accurate turtles or based on the original toyline, I'll still be all over them. Can't wait for wave 2!

I dig the new monicker. "Shell Heads" would be more fitting, but "Sewer Heads" reminds me of the first movie poster

Don't take this the wrong way, sdp, but you strike me as a "glass-is-half-empty" kind of guy.

I was hoping looking at the 2 "different" styles I could see some tell tale signs that they were in fact different figures (different joints, more articulation, ect) but I can't. So, I may be wrong.

Good news......I have confirmed that the classic turtles will NOT have the storage shell.....Here's my proof:

55.jpg

On the picture you can clearly see that the package on the left shows the"2k12" turtle.

Also if you look at Mikey back his chucks are brown with a plastic chain, but the classic mikey has orange chucks with a real chain.

... still buying her though

Ok, so less convinced about which paint job we're getting now. Working on getting better info.

I'm so glad to finally see these. Thanks to all who posted photos!
I wasn't originally thrilled about the 3 toed turtles, but those figures look great. They will definitely be seeing my money if they deliver this sort of quality. That classics line has me wanting comic book accurate sculpts as well as OT accurate.

Aw, that would be a bit of buzzkill! However, I do at least hope for the nice looking weapons.

Sadly such is April's luck since the 4Kids series. That April had 6 POA. The launch 4Kids Turtles had 12. How articulated was TMNT April?
Ahh heck...I'll just quote a guy:

One of the highlights of the new movie figures is the articulation that has been put back into the Turtles. At nineteen points of articulation, they aren't the most articulated Turtles. But they are the best articulated. Most importantly, after four years Playmates has finally gotten the hip joints right. Like most of the recent turtles, the hips have both a rotating and hinged joint combined. But where previous figures have gotten the geometry of the joints wrong, the movie figures finally adjust the joints so that the hinge is used to provide forward movement or raise the legs to the sides. But what it really means is that for once the Turtles can stand up straight. Casey Jones is almost as well articulated. But he has severely limited range of motion. The knees and hips in particular are extremely limited. The use of simple rotating joints for the shoulders is a shame. The design of the figure would seem to provide the perfect opportunity to hide extra articulation. And with no elbow joints, the figure could use more articulation for the arms. April is the least articulated with eight rotating joints at the neck, shoulders, elbows, waist and hips. I can cut them a little slack for the limited articulation due to the character design. But Mattel and Toy Biz have both put more articulation in similarly thin limbed figures in their Avatar and Marvel Legends lines. Splinter is better at eleven points of articulation. But over half of that is just the arms which have rotating shoulders, elbows and wrists. Below the waist, Splinter is more statue than action figure. The legs and tail rotate where they connect to the body at the bottom of the kimono. But that means the legs have no lateral movement. You can only control which direction the legs face. But where April's limited articulation is somewhat justified by the design, not having fully articulated legs on a figure that has a robe to cover the joints is just lazy.

I was gonna look and just post the numbers, but TMNTman really does good work.

You might say that April has become a rather "stiff" character in recent years.

I'm really impressed with the figures, i just hope Australia doesn't get screwed around like with the thundercats line. The 'foot' on the bike could be a purple dragon... maybe a black dragon

Couldn't both have storage shells. It looks from that pic of classic Mike that's slightly in profile that his shell looks seperate and could open, the giveaway being the belt not going all the way around. It's not a big deal for me but I'm not convinced he doesn't have a storage shell.
