Not really. You introduce fully CGI characters into a live-action set interacting with live-action actors and actresses and it's to be believable, you're introducing a million variables and millions of dollars in man hours. Light sourcing, 3D mapping onto live action landscapes, and then actual people too? And it's not even in a blue/greenscreen environment that can be manipulated with layers? That's about as painstaking to produce as it gets.

Where the Wild Things Are is probably the exact template this movie is following. That was all real suits with CGI assists for facial/lip movement. I bet that's what we're getting here, along with maybe a few high-action scenes where they can afford to insert some fully-CGI TMNT going crazy with ninjitsu in a way you just can't if it's a guy -- no matter how capable -- fumbling around mostly blindly in a suit.

Nice to have a date, I think we all wanted summer time but there is always tons of competition then, though that would've meant they were taking it more seriously, I thought they wanted TMNT to be their next "Transformers" but who knows if that's what they're still planning. Christmas 2013 really isn't that far away, about a year and a half away, we should see a teaser poster of some kind by SDCC.

Well all movies have competition. If they rushed it and went with summer 2013, it'd be up against Superman, Wolverine, etc. And if they held off until summer 2014, then that runs into Paramount's very own Transformers 4, and whatever else pops up there too (probably the sequel to Amazing Spider-Man).

I agree with you there, dude. That would be awesome.

Quite a few reason's they can't do that though. TMNT is marketed as a very kid-friendly franchise, and kid's love color.


Oh, and yes, I'm stoked to see this moving forward!

Andrew, in the last Kevin interview I saw he discussed how they had a dark script, tried to lighten it, and were now kinda taking it back to the original script idea. So, there is some hope there. Did you ever get a chance to read the first proposed script?

I feel a Christmas release may benefit Playmates more since it will encourage more to buy the toys in addition. But like the 1990 movie, we need a good first couple seasons of the cartoon to build some hype for this movie. It's nice, but since its down the pike, I'm still more anticipated over the Nick series.

But, wait a second! It says that the video was uploaded in November. Unless I missed it, Kevin doesn't clarify when he read the script. It sounds very possible that he read a fairly recent draft and thought it was "...excellent"
