No instead people rather latch onto something and start the torches burning before even learning more. This is why I believe things shouldn't be announced tell they are finished.

Lets face it Transformers was unoriginal (script wise) took a simple alien plot and add that they can mimic vehicles looks then transform to their "normal" bodies to fight.

Add eye candy and someone whom everyone could relate too and you got a movie.

I can kinda see where Hob is coming from. We are really loading a 15 second clip and one specific statement in that clip, but it seems that the more this stuff gets away from Mirage, the more crazy things we get added into the mix. Reincarnation (not bad, but it really makes things murky in places.), Yoshi's daughter from his human life (I actually kinda like this idea. I honestly wish we had a Tale of the TMNT issue dedicated to the Nagi/Yoshi feud and Yoshi and Shen's relationship.), and now the possibility of not just an alien influenced origin, but that the Turtles themselves may actual be of an "alien race" (and doesn't a "race" signify more than 4 individuals?) seems like a bit more than some fans are willing to take.

Who cares. I've always considered their origin to be alien....cause it is.

I can't wait for opening day of the movie and all the "I went to see it" comments from all the people swearing they'll never go and never give money to a Michael Bay produced. Turtles movie.

If you think it's gonna suck so much, just don't go see it. Stop bitching like a buncha old women.

Yes Jester, it does seem to be more then some fans are willing to take. When it was announced Nick/Viacom had purchased the rights this was along the lines of things I was thinking. I mean my first reaction was that they were going to change it so much I wouldn't recognize the franchise I loved. My first reaction was to turn my back and just walk away, and I did that for a moment. But then I realized they can't take my memories away from me, they can't take away the comics, shows, and movies that have come before.

I realized I was acting foolish. I can still love TMNT and not like everything about it. I started IDW and was skeptical. I was digging it tell they switched mask colors and a lot of OT influences seemed to make their way into it. But I've stuck with it. It's not my favorite universe but it's still fun. Heck my user name should point out that I enjoy some aspects of it a lot.

I guess my point is I'm not ready to jump on the wagon and say this is horrible beyond repare tell I know more. I'm not ready to condem something based on the Esecutive Producer spouting things.

I can respect that. At the moment this seems like the biggest and most blatantly unnecessary change to mythos. But you're right we really ought to wait until (or til...) we have more info. Bay (whose role may be minimal and was only the mouth piece because of his name.) may have been ill informed. Only time will tell for sure.

I feel like alien race is being taken too literally. It could very well mean alien as in they are different from everyone else and come from a different place, in their case they are mutated turtles who grew up in the sewers. I mean when you hear illegal alien you don't think fugitives from space, you think of people who aren't from here.

I hate to argue the semantics, but that's someone's opinion on what they heard. Much like we're assuming that Bay meant "alien" aliens, that blogger did as well. The only place planet is mentioned is in that one blog post. It's not "official."

And while we're on semantics, doesn't a race comprise more than 4 individuals? You need quite a few more people to comprise an entire race.

I'm not too keen on this idea, but as has been said, we don't really have a lot of info yet, so I'm not going to really worry about it until then.

Yes just like the Planet of the Turtles episode. Perhaps Rupert the Turtle salesman will make a cameo?

hmm, and Shredder will get the parallax/Galactus live-action treatment, the Foot is intergalactic ninja force who makes planets ready to be devoured by Shredder. And, now it is the last of their kinds job to stop Shredder to devour earth like Planet Mirage.
