So they are working with, I guess Eastman so it can't be that bad right?
Well, this is a bit relaxing. Thanks for finding this, I was getting really scared for a second. But still, there's the big question...will the turtles be aliens or not? Someone should ask him so we can get this out of the way and maybe calm down all the people against this film.

Right, right, who else could it be? If IDW is of any indication, this information does assuage me somewhat. A pity it couldn't have been mentioned sooner, but such details are fluid in the industry. Plus, the producers probably didn't expect pushback so soon. Then again, this shouldn't come as that much of a shock to Bay after the Transformers movies and dealing with its fandom lulz.

Someone bump Jester's JSBSB internet exposition clip, please? I need the refresher.

This reminds me of the JJ Abrams Superman script from 10 years ago that thankfully never got made into a movie. He completely changed the origin story.

- krypton never explodes. Superman's parents are alive.
- kal-el was sent to earth because of a prophecy
- Jor-el handpicked the Kents to raise Kal
- superman did martial arts
- lex Luthor was a CIA agent focused on UFOs
- LEX LUTHOR WAS ALSO FROM KRYPTON

We'll see what happens with TMNT.

Fans need to take a breath, and chill. They have not read the script. Our team is working closely with one of the original creators of Ninja Turtles to help expand and give a more complex back story. Relax, we are including everything that made you become fans in the first place. We are just building a richer world.
I'm sorry, but he's basically saying nothing there. It's ambiguous, and doesn't even mention the alien origin. Also, and even tho I have the deepest respect for E&L and really appreciate that one of them (Eastman, most likely) is involved, it doesn't guarantee anything. I mean, they were also involved in SotO and TMNT3.

And this mentality, ladies and gentlemen, is the reason why people like Michael Bay (amongst many others) laugh at fans or, as they would call them, "fanboys".

People would've been saying, "Michael Bay? He's gonna rape my childhood!" no matter what. In this case, people just had something very specific to run off of right away.

Well, Bay is the new Internet George Lucas. He's hated, even by people who don't have a reason. Not that anyone has a reason to "hate" someone they've never met.

I don't see Kevin being all gung-ho on the turtles actually being from space. The more I'm looking at it the more it seems that the turtles have origins in space in that the mutagen is an alien substance.

I have no hate for the man. He does a very specific kind of movie very well, and can film "spectacle" better than most working in Hollywood today.

Say what you will about any other parts of the movie, but the man knows how to do action. And from the looks of Wrath of the Titans, I think Libesman does too.

To be fair, though, most of this "hate" doesn't really bleed into daily life as a true hatred of anything. It's not like people are like, "My wife and kids would've lived through the incident if Michael Bay didn't f'ck up Transformers!"

Bad Boys 1 and 2? I don't think either one were as funny as they should have been, but the action and spectacle was top notch.

The Rock? Awesome, I don't know any kid at the time that wasn't singing its praises back in the day. Today it's still kind of a guilty pleasure.

Armageddon? Come on. Everyone cried like a little bitch when Bruce Willis died and you know it. And the movie was a sh*t ton of fun. I'm sure not technically sound from a scientific standpoint, but who cares.

And I actually really enjoyed the first Transformers movie. I do understand though if I was huge into the cartoons and comics and all that I'd probably be pissed... but it really wasn't for any of those people.

I wonder how this alien origin is going to mix in with the established backstory of how the Turtles were named after four of the earth's most famous renaissance painters and learning the japanese art of ninjitsu.

With Bay involved, I'm pretty sure the Turtles are finally going to use their weapons for what they were designed to do.

At least, modern-day Lucas gives decent reasons not to like him. (I was fine until his "screw you guys, I'm going home" attitude toward fans about more sequels. That, and the Darth Vader 'No!' edit in the new Jedi Blu-Ray release.) Bay, to his credit, hasn't done much of that, except maybe unleashing Megan Fox upon the rest of the world, but that's okay. If Fox didn't have that need to insult her audience, I'd be a-okay with her, too.

I save hate for dictators, not movie directors. Besides, as many have said, Bay does spectacle and action well, so that's good enough in this day and age. And I do want to see "The Rock," as I wasn't able to, at the time.

Although, to take from Goongasnootch's example, "we got divorced because my husband or wife couldn't take the new space TMNT origin" would be kinda funny in a morbid way.

This. Never seen the Bad Boys flicks but I like (and own) The Rock, The Island, and the 1st Transformers flick. I have no qualms with Bay. I do have an issue with a seemingly odd and unnecessary tweak to an origin that's worked pretty well for almost 30 years.

Wow...so take a semi-unique origin and make it as unoriginal as possible.
