I can't do this anymore. I have never been so ashamed to like something in my entire life.

Bay directed Transformers though dude... Ninja Turtles is just going to be a Platinum Dunes production, just like Friday the 13th, Nightmare on Elm Street and their other horror flicks that Bay didn't really have anything to do with.

I am not as angery as I was before, I think we should wait before we jump to conclusions. Besides, one of the creators is helping, maybe it will be good. And hopefully this alien thing is fake and Bay wanted to help get the film popular.

As far as I'm concerned, nothing that Michael Bay has been involved in has ever resulted in a GOOD surprise.

Yeah, people are going nuts over a small piece of information...but the real reason folks are reacting so strongly isn't just because what he said sounds so ridiculously stupid. People are so angry and jumping to conclusions so readily because of the precedent established by Michael Bay's interactions with those glorious products of the 80's that formed such integral parts of so many of our childhoods. Yes, there isn't much information now. Yes, he's not actually directing the movie. These things are true. Still, "alien" seems pretty clear-cut to me, and you'll notice he doesn't bother to try and correct any misapprehension in his message to the internet. What's more, producers can have a pretty huge role in the final shape of a film. Look at the Superman franchise. The producer of those films has almost single-handedly run them into the ground. In the end, Bay's name is enough to cause brave men to be filled with dread when he turns his attention to something they love. The man has, with great enthusiasm, demonstrated his complete and utter contempt for any and all source material, not to mention his utter lack of a soul.

He's involved. They're going to give him an executive producer credit and he's a big enough name that he's going to have a say in the final product. Mark my words. You honestly think they just brought him into the picture to talk?

He was an executive producer on all those other movies too. It's being made with his money. That's it.

He was brought out on stage to talk about it because it's his production company and he's the guy that made those movies based off an 80s toy commercial that made assloads of money. It was a move to say that Ninja Turtles is going to be treated like it's as big a deal as Transformers.

Bad dog. Bay is the producer and nothing more.

A Michael Bay production brought to you by Platinum Dunes I can't wait!

I'm especially looking forward to people defending the film's anticipated mediocrity à la Transformers trilogy.

That's pretty much it exactly. The director is just going to be doing his heavy lifting.

Happens quite a bit with producers, actually. Not always, but more than you might think.

Maybe the Turtles are mutated on the utrom home world, and end up back on Earth, from where they were taken as biological samples for study.

That's my take on it anyway, they aren't aliens exactly, but their mutation is caused directly by alien science and experimentation as opposed to accidentally.

Then again if they are aliens maybe the Turtles, Triceratons, and Utroms all share the same planet, the turtle race is almost wiped out in a war for domination, but a parent sends their 4 children in an escape pod to earth.
Ridiculous I know, but I'm just trying to figure out the origin if they are aliens.

Either way I hope the film starts with the Turtles in New York, and their origins are slowly revealed over the course of the film or it's sequels, should there be any that is.

Anyway I think it's best to have low expectations based on who's involved.

One of the main reasons I'm upset with this alien direction is that it changes one of the core things about TMNT that has always appealed to me: their struggle to accept the fact that they were essentially created by accident. You know, the whole "I thought we'd find out we were special!" thing.

Their inner turmoil as they struggle to find their place in the world is one of the most unique and captivating aspects of the Turtles' story. I'd be really unhappy if this were to change.

Yeah I really like that. As they slowly accept and begin to love what they are.
If they're alien. Then all of a sudden it's all about getting back home.

Maybe the movie is a Christmas movie. The invasion of Krang and Dimension X wackiness and loveable Turtles, just in time for the holiday season.

I actually really enjoy going to the movies on Christmas day, after spending all of that time with family it's nice to get out and zone out on something else...

I could understand a movie opening on Christmas Eve or around New Years, but Christmas Day?! Who the hell thought of that?!

I don't know how it goes down with your family, but Christmas Eve is an all day event with us, then Christmas morning... then we just veg out all day. I've never gone to a movie on Christmas (and I think it's wrong to make people work that day), but I wouldn't be totally opposed to it.

I wouldn't see any movie on Christmas Eve though. I wouldn't have even gone to see Turtles Forever if it'd been released on the 24th.

Yes, I do. All these internet nerds love to **** all over Bay, but that doesn't change the fact that his movies make millions upon millions and he's possibly the most famous director making movies right now.

If they'd sent Scott Mednick or Brad Fuller up there to say that same stuff, I bet it wouldn't even be on the internet now.

Warhorse came out this year on Christmas day and it made a lot of money and got nominated for a lot of awards. Totally different kind of film then Turtles but you can't just make a blanket statement that films come out on Christmas make no money!

Will people please stop making new threads to bash Bay. Geeze we already have two, three because people are starting in the directors thread too. We don't need anymore.

The fact that there is such a backlash against this all throughout the internet should say a lot. Do I expect them to change the script if the alien stuff is already in there? No.

But at least they're aware of the dislike of this idea coming from most fans. Even people who aren't really TMNT fans are complaining.
