A tale of two Caseys...

NECA-style Casey (MKIII):

I was asked to replicate my previous Casey custom, using as many of the same parts as possible. I don't normally like duplicating my customs, but there were a lot of things I didn't like about my last Casey, and relished the opportunity to make a better one...

LCBH Savage Dragon legs, shortened by half an inch or so, Toybiz TNA guy torso, Mattel WWE guy arms, headcast of the sculpt I did for my last Casey. The sculpting and paints are much smoother on this version, and he's also a lot more proportional (and more in scale with the TMNT figures). I think the most fun was making the weapons - the baseball bats are real wood, hockey stick was styrene, golf club was metal rod & Apoxie, cricket bat was from movie Casey. The bag's a modified WoS Freddie Quimby bag.

One down, one to go...

Whilst I was making the new Casey, I thought I'd give my first version an update, as it was looking rather shabby now... Put on some new arms from a UFC guy, and a cast of my original headculpt.
Had a lot of trouble with the casts - my mould was poorly made, and tore when I was trying to remove one of the casts (I also kept cocking up by not using enough resin, leaving a big hole in his head). I managed to get one perfect cast (out of 9) before the mould was totally destroyed. The head on this one was actually 2 casts - front of one and the back of another. Added a few "battle scars" on the mask to try and hide the join and some of the other flaws, I think it works quite well. He's still too big and disproportionate, but for my collection he'll do.

I like the newer Casey ALMOST as much as the Neca styled on that you have there. I think the wrist wraps are a nice improvement and it's very cool to see you make the non-Neca Casey different enough to stand out as a unique custom. Good work!

Thanks, but it's more down to laziness - I originally did that Casey over 4 years ago, I kept the old wrists/hands and put them on the new arms, but there was such a size discrepancy that I put a load of tape there to even it out. It was just a very quick job to spruce him up a bit - he looked like this before:

I've been looking forward to seeing your latest one since I found out you were working on a new one on the fwoosh. Its a shame your mould was destroyed, but I'm glad you got a good one out of it. I've gotta say man, third times a charm, it looks perfect.

^^WHat Powder said.
I like how The newest Casey looks like Neca Casey, just with some steroids and a few more bar brawls under his belt.

How easily can the masked head be removed? I only ask because I think an unmasked head would be killer!

The heads can be removed fairly easily. I'd love to have been able to make a swappable head, but time (and a lack of suitable heads) were against me. Might be something I can revisit in the future...
