Donnie's easily my favorite turtle. I guess because he's a lot like me: smart, pacifistic, and quiet. I enjoy the 2k3 and 2k7 renditions of him best. Though he wasn't given much to do in 2k7, the scene where he's with a customer on the phone is just priceless. I love the sarcasm.

Although he was mainly background, I agree that 2k7 Donnie was done very well. He was clearly scientific with an adeptness concerning finances (as he took care of the monetary aspects of Mikey's Carl gig) and I always thought the scene were he identified the stone as obsidian was cool because it was further testament to his knowledge of earth science which is often overshadowed by his insane IQ concerning all things tech.

What does everybody think of Donatello's look so far in the Nick images?

Personally, I think besides playing up the "he's an obvious geek" thing he looks awesome. I like how he's the only one with brown eyes. Believe it or not, I don't mind the gap tooth.

I think Donnie looks pretty good. I don't mind the gap at all either.

Nick is trying to use stereotype looks to make Don look like the nerdy one and Mike the goofy one. I am not for or against the tooth gap but Mike having freckles is silly. Its how the character is portrayed that makes the difference not so much the way the character looks which can change as a series progresses. I love Don's voice actor but will have a time not going "Raphael" in my head since I define Rob by that voice. I do think Rob playing Don is Nick's way of trying to inject humor into him instead of playing straight man like Leo does to Mike and Raph(well sometimes) goofiness.

Donatello is my favorite turtle for a lot of reasons. I actually like his weapon, the bo staff, because it isn't a stereotypical "cool" weapon, but he makes it cool by how he handles it.

He is also the most like me in temperament. Is it common for people to associate with the turtle most like them? Being brainy can be a real advantage, but a brainy person can also be a great fighter.

...Also, lavender is my favorite color....

I think it is. Up until recently Donatello was my favorite, since I was a kid. As I've grown I realized I'm more like Mikey, and so he's my favorite Turtle now. Totally plausible for people to favor the Turtle they identify with best.

IDW's Donatello...needs to chill. Thoughts on his development?

Agreed. One of the things I don't like is how IDW is making Donnie a bit of a jerk to Leo. I'm hoping he starts to change soon, because this might be my least favorite version of him.
