why "Kraang" and not "Krang"

I dont know if this has already been discussed or answered, but I was just curious as to why the new show spells it "Kraang" (with 2 a's) instead of the original spelling "Krang" (with 1 a). Is it a licensing issue? Or is this Kraang a completely new and different character, not the one we remember from the original TMNT series? Anyone have any info on this?

The Kraang are now an entire entity of aliens instead of one character like it used to be. The Kraang are basically an evil version of the Utroms.

It is possible that "Krang" himself might show up as the leader of the the Kraang later on, which I am hoping for.

The Kraang are aliens. An alien named Krang is an alien. One's plural, one's singular.

I hope to god "Lord Krang" appears, as in the one that resembles the character from the original cartoon, Archie series, and IDW comics.

We need the REAL Krang to appear as the leader of the Kraang.

Do we really need the "real" Krang? If the Kraang are now more akin to Utroms only evil, it might mean that they are naturally brain aliens and not disembodied aliens like Krang was.

If it's not an disembodied inter-dimensional alien warlord, it's not really Krang anymore, just as well have a new character as the leader of the Kraang. if they even have or need a leader type

My head canon for now is that, "The Kraang" is their street/space gang

I think it's because they wanted the Kraang as a homage to both Krang and the Utroms.
