Anyways, today they announced yet another Kid Icarus related thing, some kind of Dragoon-like three-part weapon. I know people have accused Sakurai in the past of playing favourites with Kirby, but I don't think many people cared, because Kirby is awesome and his universe is full of great stuff. Now that he seems to be playing favourites with his reboot of the KI franchise, I'm way less OK with him playing favourites. If Dark Pit ends up being a playable clone, I'm gonna especially be displeased.

Sakurai favors Kirby, Kid Icarus, Fire Emblem and whatever random obscure character he makes playable such as the Ice Climbers, Rob, Mr. Game and Watch and Wii Fit Trainer.

Meanwhile he clearly hates the Zelda series. Ganondorf being a clone for two games in a row, Toon Link still being a clone even though he has potential for a unique moveset with Wind Waker, Minish Cap, etc. items as possibilities. Also the fact that Zelda hasn't had a newcomer since Melee which is now 14 years ago.

Oh well. As long as Ridley and Dixie Kong become playable, I won't mind too much. Its just bizarre a franchise as big as DK only has two playable characters, and Metroid really needs someone other than two versions of Samus such as Ridley.

I'm also willing to bet the only reason Pokemon gets so many playable characters isn't because of Sakurai himself, its because GameFreak and Nintendo forces him to add more Pokemon due to its popularity. Sakurai is so bias it makes me sick.

I still can't believe how the Smash community has acted towards this reveal. It's insane they thought there was any chance he wouldn't be in, but the excitement over an obvious returning veteran shows they're A) insane and B) desperate for a decent update with the 3DS game so close to release.

The only old characters I expect to be cut are Squirtle/Ivysaur, possibly Snake, and if we're pushing it Lucas.

All the others will obviously return.

I had a feeling something like this would happen. Sakurai is giving the fanboys exactly what they want. We get skimpy Samus but not Fusion suit Samus as an actual costume (instead of a re-color).

Samus really reminds me of a Dead or Alive character now.

The fusion suit would have a different hit box than her normal power suit. ZSS is basically a naked human body, so sticking her in another skin-tight (and based on a game) costume makes sense as an alt. And we still don't know if Samus proper has an actual alt. You can complain if she doesn't, but jumping to conclusions when you know absolutely nothing is pointless.

Also, stop whining. For the love of god.

It's from Zero Mission I think? I haven't played it. Is it supposed to be a more "modern" adaptation of it?

So, what do you guys think of this potential leak? If it's not real it's incredibly well done. I'd be kinda OK with this roster, if the same leaker(s) story about the 5 DLC characters (Wolf, Ice Climbers, Lucas, Snake and Rhythm Heaven rep) also turn out to be true. The leak has already been confirmed fake on Smashboards.

-Game and Watch's hand is leaking over to Wario's profile pic which is ridiculous, Shulk is Little Mac's face with new hair, the dog's name wouldn't be, "Duck Hunt" as no character is called by their series name (Villager isn't called Animal Crosssing), and if this is the Japanese version then Bowser would be called King Koopa. Ganondorf's profile pic is also one of his Twilight Princess artworks reversed. Likewise the character roster is all over the place, as characters from the same series are grouped together.

I also severely doubt they'd bother cutting Lucas and Wolf just to sell them as separate DLC, this is not EA or Activision.

Lastly the idea of Dr. Mario returning as a full character instead of an alternate costume makes no sense, and bringing him back over Mewtwo makes even little sense for a cut Melee character.

The pic is clearly "worst case scenario" to rile up fans, especially since there's no Ridley, no new Donkey Kong character, Dark Pit is a playable character (although given Sakurai, it wouldn't surprise me), and so forth.

And the Snake DLC makes even less sense, since if they were going to cut Snake i have no idea why they would bother selling him later on.

Also, aren't the character select screens usually sorted by series? Why is Dark Pit so far away from Pit? The FE characters are split, too.

Man, a hoax without Mewtwo isn't even worth laughing at. That's just pathetic. Bet the butthurt on Smashboards was incredible, though. Almost makes me wish I still went there.
