The more I read about the show the more I get excited for it. The only thing that has me worried right now is the CGI. I dont think the three toe thing will bother me that much, but I saw the clip and it made me a little worried, but They have over a year to perfect it so I will stay optomistic

It's weird to me that so many people here are so against April being a teenager but are so ready to stick Karai in this sub-servant role again like she was in 2k3???

Also April as a teen could work and rather well as long as they make her a well rounded and developed character and she not just "the girl" there to appeal to girls so they will watch the show.

I actaully agree witht the April thing. At first I was really against it. But after reading some of the basic Premise, I am interested to c how Nick plays this out.

I am guy and please girls correct me if I am wrong, but don't girls mature faster than guys? They do start and end puberty a few years ahead of guys so I dont think age should be too much of an issue.

It's really a person by person thing in my opinion. There is no magic number for either gender, I think it is more the accumulation of your life experiences and the way you are raised.

Eeeeh, I really dislike using demographic averages as a means by which to construct a character. It just seems...lazy, and almost like comparing apples to oranges. I mean, April's the average girl the way the Doctor Who companions are the average people, ie: they're not.

Okay, I'm sorry if I offended anybody with the maturity thing. I'm not saying that people that young can't be mature. I'm just saying that dealing with ninjas who have enemies who want to kill them on a daily basis is a serious thing, and I think that at sixteen April may not be able to take that. If she were older, she would have seen enough of the world to be able to handle it more.

Have u lived in the Gettoh? From 14-18 People were trying to kill my cousin who was a drugy, over deals, and even neighbors were threatening him. I live two house down and I still hung a around their. It affected me yes, but I was still able to emotionaly handle it.

And lets not forget this is FICTION! I understand what ur saying, but then again, whos heard of Turtles being Ninja? or being 5ft tall? lol oh well

It was recently brought to light that "Ultroms" was not a typo so much as a very obscure reference to the design inspiration of the exo-suits. But, saying "Ralph" seems more like people showing their ignorance or purposefully trying to peepee me off.

This phrase takes so much abuse... Statistically, female bodies mature to adulthood earlier than males. But, physical maturity is not equivalent to emotional maturity. Plus, there are always exceptions to the rule anyhow. There are grown women who never had their hood-ornaments come in, just like there are thousand (or maybe even more) adults in the world who have never reached emotional maturity.

Thought I would come back and bitch again because I have to go to class and don't want to.

So will this make canon all those stories where the guys meet a teenage girl who has been orphaned/ abandoned by her parents, take her down to the lair as part of the family as soon as they lay their eyeballs on them and then train her to be a kunoichi and drool all over her because she is so SPECIAL! So much more mature than other teenage girls.

Because if it does, YAY! I can totally lower my storytelling standards! I can finally join all those 15 year old girls who have written themselves into the show in a fit of vanity so they can join the family and know what it is like to have all of the turtles tripping all over them.

AMEN!!! The Turtles themselves are young - Nikelodeon: we don't need other young characters to have kids or girls relate to them; the TMNT do a fine job of that on their own. Please keep April closer to her original character type. And that goes for Casey Jones as well. A teenage Casey is even less plausible..... a teenager vigilante that can go around kicking crime's butt? Riiiiiiiiiight....

Really all Nick has to do is write April as a competent character with agency.
I can't help but keep bringing up "Avatar", but in all seriousness that's my gold standard for female characters in a show targeted at kids.

Female characters can be ladylike and kick ass. (Katara)
They can eschew social girly convention and still kick ass (Toph)
They can giggle, wear pink, and talk about boys, and kick ass even more (Ty Lee)
