I recall a while ago, everyone on the board used to call stand-alone episodes of the 2k3 cartoon "filler episodes". You know, episodes like "Nano" and "Garbageman" that didn't advance any of the story arcs but were just sorta there.

Well, after a while, Laird made a big deal about it in the Vol. 4 letters page, saying how much he detested people referring to stand-alone episodes as "filler", indicating he did read this board at some time or another.

Whether he still lurks here is anyone's guess, considering how we apparently pissed him off so badly.

Forget that.

We're allowed to have opinions. If Laird can't handle critical opinions on a public forum then that's his problem. I'm not gonna pretend I like everything just in case he lurks here, reads it and cries himself to sleep.

Hahaha If he still lurks here he probably hates my ass then. But f*** him, if he wants to be a little baby about it like Uwe Boll and rip on his fans then he can piss off.

He's nothing without us and he knows it.

Yea, he needs to realize that this is certainly the biggest collection of TMNT loyal on the internet. No one was really trashing the show by calling a few episodes fillers.

Yes, I remember that very clearly. That was one of the first things that clued me in that he was reading. There were a few other things, too.

Quiet...He's right behind me!!!!!
But seriously I would love to meet the guy and thank him for an awesome idea like TMNT. But if he's gonna take all our opinions and other fans' opinions the wrong way it seems kind of pointless to have him here. I respect the hell out of the guy it's just I don't think anyone should be that sensetive to criticism.
But then again maybe Laird used to listen to criticism by fans but then after a while became really jaded by it and it just began to get under his skin. I agree with DrSpengler that we are all entitled to our own opinions but none of us really know what goes through the guy's head so we can't really relate.

^ Heh, Peter Laird ranted about statements like that in one of the letters section too.

I forgot which issue it was, but damn, I do miss reading his rants.

What'd he say, specifically?

He used to participate on the Comics Publishers forum on Compuserve about a decade ago, but he wasn't always very congenial. Sometimes one can get into an interesting conversation with him, but be prepared for his bluntness. As if those who have read his letters column didn't know that...

Hmm Probably not. sure, I'd love to talk to the guy and shake the hand of the man that created my all-time favorite characters (and I mean even bigger than Batman and Spiderman IMO, maybe even Son Goku), but the people here would probably lynch him and he'd get to upset he might cancel all TMNT projects. So for the sake of my favorite series... keep him away from the Technodrome...

I would, but I'm afraid if all the PL bashers will quickly chase him away.

What a baby, I'd like to see what he would be like without us fans. Seriously, he puts his comics out late all the time, we put up with it, he changes 2K3, we put up with it, he says stupid ****, we put up with it. We're pretty nice fans. We complain but not as bad as other properties.

PL bashers? So I'm supposed to give him head because he made TMNT? If he does something stupid I have the right to point it out. He doesn't have to listen to me. He could ignore me just as easily. Instead he gets all pissy.

Yeah Personally I think the people who kiss his @ss would just as quickly scare him away.
I'd I'd hardly consider people who dislike what he does but still respect him to be bashers.
Oh and Quite Frankly I'd rather have Kevin Eastman here since he actully likes to talk about the TURTLES and not some crap that has nothing to do with it.

Hmmm.

So, is Peter Laird like, say, J.K. Rowlings? In that they both created some great characters and storylines, but get all mad when the fans start to like a character that the author never intended to be liked?

I also know J.K Rowlings has gone as far as to get fan's fan fiction deleted from the internet, especially this one where a fan wrote a better version of the Half Blood Prince.

It would be interesting, but if Peter Laird can't digest fan's opinions and point of views on his creation, it might not be such a good idea. I love the TMNT, but honestly, everytime I hear another bizarre storyline out of the comics, I cringe and thank my lucky stars that I don't read them, much.

Peter Laird won't try and get anyone's fan fiction's deleted though, cause he steals some of his ideas from it I'm pretty sure.

You know bringing that up is really funny actually...he bashes allot of things like the old toon for being to silly as well as the archie comics but if these things are so bad how come he's ripped off half of the ideas from both of these versions of tmnt and used them in the things he's done.
