well the show may be bad but the later episodes are not so bad especially the dr. quease stuff.
I know cause I taped them all when they aired.

Ok so after a long wait the time is nigh..... a little card came through my door today saying that the postie tried to deliver a package to me when I was at work. I am pretty sure it is TNM dvd (unless I've got another secret admirer sending my gifts ). I will pick it up from the depot tomorrow and post a definitive episode list for you guys (I'm aware that you've already got some idea as it has taken so long for the dvd to arrive, but thought I would post it anyway when the dvd is in front of me). Then I will fulfill my guilty, morbid curiosity about TNM and watch it!!!! My expectations are so low I'll probably think it's brilliant by comparison!!!

Just wanted to keep you in the loop. Thanks for your patience.

Isn't it because Disney actually owns it, as it was a Saban production?

Not that I would buy it... I would rent it out of couriosity... that's about it.

You're correct I'm pretty sure Disney does in fact own the tapes of this show.

Does Disney control Jetix outside of the US? I'm not quite curious enough to look it up.

If Disney owns it overseas, the execs must have somewhat better execs working the UK branch.

Disc 1

Episodes 1-5:
East Meets West part 1-5

Disc 2

Episodes 6-8:
Staff of Bu-ki
Silver & Gold
Meet Dr Quease

Disc 3

Episodes 9-11
All in the Family
Trusting Dr Quease
Windfall

Notable things: there is no mention of "Turtles Night out" on the box - although that is what it was marketed as; it is Volume 1, so are we to expect further volumes?

Let me know if you have any questions you want me to answer about the discs etc.

I just sent in a letter about it, thoroughly explaining all I had gathered on it... I really need to find out why I've been dropped from the mailing list.

Well I watched it. I expected rubbish storylines, rubbish costumes, rubbish acting, rubbish credibility and well, you know, rubbish.

I'm almost ashamed to admit that I really enjoyed it! In a strictly non-canon, accepting-the-messing-with-certain-aspects-of-it way.

The humour was very silly, but had me chuckling in places. The voice artists were not half bad. I loved the portrayal of most of the characters, especially Splinter, Mike and Raph. I had a bit of a problem with Leo though whose ego was so over inflated that he lost his agility from the extra weight! He was very argumentative and at times downright horrible to Raph.

The costumes..... eek. There's no kind way to put it: terrible, just terrible... but tolerable as you get used to it.

The villains - ridiculous, but it reminded me in a way of The Monkees - and had a similar self-depricating tone which I was quite happy to sit back, relax and allow myself to laugh and accept the eccentric monkey man and mad scientist with the well-defined jaw line!

Speaking of ridiculous.... Venus. What can i say? Whilst the idea of a girl turtle pitching up out of the blue was fundamentally offensive to the dedicated fan in me, I didn't dislike the character. She had spunk. It was handled fairly well.

So, my verdict: silly show, which is a small blot on the history of ninja turtles, but worth watching for laid-back, entertainment which must be taken with a pinch of salt, but is an opportunity to see another interpretations of your favourite characters.

So, I emplore those who previously like myself avoided TNM on the very principle to have a go and approach it with an open mind. You may just be pleasantly surprised!!! On the other hand, if you hate the old toon and fast forward, and stick to what's canon, give it a miss!

Yes, I completely agree that this is how the show should be viewed. And for as much hating as there is for it today, when the show first aired, in general, fandom loved it. The second half of the season had some really good episodes, so I REALLY hope they finally put those on DVD.
